On the Herd, 10 mins of hat backwards and what it indicates. As the QB of the team they should be setting the example and wearing a hat backwards sends the message that they are too flippant, casual, just sorta winging it. Its how they play and its why they get the results they do. Colin said he likes both guys, but the hat backwards indicates what kinda guys they are and they play it too casual. He also used Favre as an example of hat backwards. He said Favre was way more talented than Brady, but he's a hat backwards guy and only got 1 SB while Brady has 3. Also pointed out that the hat backwards symbolism that defines the hat backwards guys is evident in the fact that Favre threw the most INT's.

Then we get a replay of an old presser where Steve Spurrier referred to a time when Cowherd talked about the hat backwards stuff for QB's and Spurrier said he tends to agree. He said the QB needs to be sharp. They are the leader of the team and need to set the example.

Peyton Manning doesnt wear his hat backwards. Nor doe E-Lie. Nor does Flacco. Blah, blah, blah.

Colin finished by saying, "wear your hat in the direction you want to go in life."

I am a big Colin cowherd fan and this isn't him ripping on Romo, Colin always defends the guy. I cannot really argue with his take and I find it kind of interesting. Romo's loose play occasionally results in miraculous scrambles out of the pocket for broken big plays and heartbreaking interceptions. Other quarterbacks do this as well. He also said Kap, Cam, and Big Ben also fall in same category. Big Ben has the rings because he was given the first superbowl by the refs and surrounded by good talent overall for both.

Lol really? Don't people realize it's not a "symbol" it's a "style". I will never understand this argument. It's always made by the older male generation who don't understand the "style". I'm 6 days younger then Romo and always wear my hat backwards and that's pretty normal here in CA period. I would have an issue if the hate was sideways. Some of the hats with flat bills fit better with the hat in backwards. Such a dumb argument.

Cowherd is an absolute tool. No offense, but I don't know how anyone listens to that guy.

But does Tony even do this anymore? I don't think I've seen him wearing the backwards cap in a while, not that it would make any difference to me if he did.

He said in his argument "guys like Matt stafford, Tony romo, not so much anymore".

The Dallas Cowboys shop site used to sell a hat called the Romo meant to be worn backwards.

He isn't ripping the guy. Romo has always been called a loose gunslinger similar to Favre that if he had a better team around him would be looked upon a lot better by the media. Colin is not saying anything different.

So Stafford throws some boneheaded pics on a national stage in a "big" game and Cowherd somehow found a way to blame Romo for that too. What the hell does Romo have to do with that game last night or with Stafford for that matter?

By the way he also said Big Ben, Kap, and cam fall in this category... everyone wants to make the story about tony, the Cowboys player, though.

Colin addressed your "style" argument and pretty much kicked it to the curb. How you wear your hat defines you in some sense. It tells us about the kind of person you are. Just like the kind of car you drive tells us something about who you are. How you dress tells us something about you.

And actually, while he didnt say this, your shoes tells us something about you as an individual. Guys who keep their shoes shines/polished, or looking neat and fresh are certain kinda guys. Guys with scuffed up, or dirty shoes tend to be more frumpy than guys with sharp shoes.

How you portray yourself, or present yourself to others says a lot about you. It doesnt mean one is a better person than the other it just indicates whats going on with you as far as personality, or whats important to you.

Hat backwards, and what you mentioned as flat bill hats, are things that send a message. If you're my plumber, its prob not a big deal. If you're my doctor or attorney I dont want to see some flat bill wearing guy. Its just reality.

So its not just about "style" its more about who you are as an individual and how you portray yourself. Its about what is important to you.

I advise everyone to actually listen to the podcast and get his entire opinion if you care...

Nevermind that makes too much sense.

Some wont agree and will immediately tune out what he says because they dont like what he says. He actually made some good points and its true for the most part. Its just reality.

It has far less to do with the "style" and much more to do with an overall outlook on life in general. The older guys have lived and learned from experience and see much more than just a "style" preference.

If you're going in for emergency surgery at the ER which one of these guys do you want operating on you? You dont know either one, all you have is a first impression. Its a no brainer.

It kind of makes you think a little about the maturity of quarterbacks who are drafted in the first round and will be drafted in the upcoming drafts which we will likely be paying attention to considering Tony is going to be 34 start of next season. As any Nfl GM: Andrew Luck, purely business. RG3 has his superman socks on at the Heisman trophy ceremony. Do you draft Johnny Manziel or Teddy Bridgewater? Intangibles and maturity are huge for the franchise quarterback.

No slight on Romo, the undrafted kid from Eastern Illinois who probably never thought he would be the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys. He is an insane outlier to the typical first round franchise qb. He has some Favre in him and continually a mediocre, injured team around him and he cannot always make up for their faults and keep track of his own.
