If he needs the return of Romo to motivate, he is a horrible head coach and should be fired right now.

Putting a clearly hurt player on IR is not "mailing it in". It is acknowledging reality.

At any rate, this is not a Garrett thing at all.

The only game Romo could be healthy enough to play is a championship game. Another QB would have to get us there and Jerry and Co. would deny that QB the honor of playing in a championship game.
