Tony Romo, The Man with the Stats

Homgren was the only one that seemed to be able to control Favre's seeming need to try and always throw even when he shouldn't. That was really apparent his last few years in Green Bay.

Some of those pics were BEYOND stupid

The one big difference is that Favre was mostly playing during a time without the inflated QB numbers around the league. That makes what he did a lot more significant. Romo's crazy awesome numbers from last year were only 4th best in the league. He was never a strong candidate for MVP, but if he put up those numbers ten years ago, he probably would have been.

I agree. Tony was usually starting his drives from enemy territory. I suppose there is a stat for drives started in a team's own territory, but I wouldn't know where to look.

You would be surprised here, of course the 9ers dominate LOS talk as being #1 in the starting position for their offense and defense, but Dallas' offense was #8 with a starting position of the 29.25 while the D was #3 with a starting position of 25.62.

Dallas' biggest problem in that realm was the fact that we were #23 in yards given up per drive at 31.98, so we couldn't get the opposition off the field which should be obvious if we watched the games.

Romo is so underrated and underappreciated, it's stupid.

(The above has nothing to do with Favray.)

You are right, He'll only be appreciated when he's gone in 2 years or so and we go back to 10 QB's in 5 years. But i can guarantee he won retire with a ring.

I personally do not think Romo chokes. He just tries way too hard when we are ahead and behind. For him to make the amazing plays that he does he could not be a choker, he just thinks he is better than he actually is. He's pretty darn good too.

He said after the Lions' game that he was trying to make the great play to Witten that was picked off. He said that great players makes those plays. I think you got a good point. He trys to make some plays that he is not talented enough to make. He wants to make those big plays much like Farve. Some times it gets him in trouble. I like his approach to the game. I hope he gets a championship. He deserves it after taking all the flak that media, fans and other players .

Romo has 2 maybe 3 years to win Superbowl and thats it. This team is a short term team with a MAX of 3 years left.

Refresh my memory, how old was John Elway when he won his first Super Bowl??

Then remind me, how old is Tony now??

I'll tell you what, no need to do the research, Elway was 37 when he won his first Super Bowl... he won another when he was 38... and oh yeah, Johnny Unitas was 37 when he made his Super Bowl appearance... and Tony's 32 now...

So, it would seem that it's entirely possible that Tony's "window of opportunity" would be five or six years, not two or three...

And as for your claim that "this team is a short term team with a MAX of 3 years left, that's just asinine; this is a rather young team, being built for the long term...

All in all, if this post is any indication of your football knowledge, I'm considerably less than impressed...

Yes they were still good but if Romo wins I want it to be in his prime, so he doesn't have to be carried by his team as much so people can see how GREAT he really is.

This team has NO money under the cap.

You're just makin' this crap up as you go along, aren't you??

This team was so strapped by the cap that they only signed:

Kyle Orton
Lawrence Vickers
Mackenzy Bernadeau
Dan Connor
Brandon Carr
Nate Livings
Brodney Pool

Yeah, it's clear that the cap has them by the throat... FWIW, we should be in pretty good shape against the cap next year too, as a chunk of dead money comes off the books...

There for can't re-sign there own players I.e Robinson.

The only player they lost that they even wanted to keep, but they could have chosen to sign him... they just didn't see paying a 3rd WR the kind of money he got in free agency... IOW, that wasn't a move that was forced on them, it was their CHOICE... big difference, though I doubt you can grasp the distinction...

Also Romo is 32 years old. He won't do a Favre and play till he's 39/40.

You don't have the first flippin' clue how long Romo plans on playing...

Thanks for a completely facts-free rant, it was highly entertaining...

Romo might struggle to stay healthy if our OL doen't improve. At the moment the interior is very weak. He won't keep playing while theres a chance he'll get injured.

Again, you talk as if you know what Romo's thinking... which makes you look completely ridiculous...

You also don't know that our offensive line hasn't ALREADY improved... it might just be that Callahan was just what this line needed, and that the players he brought in were chosen because they fit what he wants to do quite nicely...

Beyond that, Romo has demonstrated in the past a willingness to play while "there's a chance he'll get injured", what makes you think he'd suddenly turn into a big wimp??

I wonder, is everything gloom and doom in your life?? More important, when everything's going well in your life, do you feel a compelling, even overpowering urge to anticipate gloom and doom in the near future??

I purely hate posters who have nothing to contribute but gloom and doom... always have, always will...

Rodd just put himself squarely in my crosshairs... hope he enjoys the experience, but somebody should warn him that he needs to bring the facts to the argument if he's gonna try to go toe to toe with your friendly local Bear... all he's been doing so far is making crap up, and that won't fly...

Of course, I reckon it's possible he's just indulging his masochistic streak, inviting abuse in order to validate his feelings of worthlessness... in that case, I'm performing a kind of public service, I guess... :D

Wish I was, but I'm not--diabetes put an end to that... man, I could go for a Jack and coke right now... LOL...

This is just the first time I've run across this troll, and I try not to be too quick to jump to conclusions... I mean, some posters are just negative PITAs, but they're still devoted Cowboys fans...

But when I read a supposed fan declaring that Romo will get injured early, and we'll be 0-13, you can't help but start to suspect that we've got a Skins or Giants fan pretending to be a Cowboys fan, so that he can troll our forum without getting banned...

Read the fine print in the rules, it clearly says that bloodying trolls is permissible...

And if it doesn't say that, it should...

How about tar and feathers? Is that legal on CZ?

There won't be any blood...but the smell of burning skin might upset someone.
