The guy could barely hand the ball off to Murray and couldn't even run five yards to get a a first down with no one in front of him. Just sit the guy before he ends up hurting himself even more. Orton is capable of moving the offense and getting some points. I think Orton has more zip on his football than Tony does right now anyway.

I'm sure he does, but it isn't happening. The Romo news was broken by a much more reliable source than when Dez broke his finger last year, and Garrett was far more optimistic when that happened. The risk-reward here is out of balance and not something we can be doing.

If he does play he will get a shot to numb his back before the game.

Tony Romo wants to play in Week 17

News was reported on Monday that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo would be shut down for the season, but Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and head coach Jason Garrett have denied those reports. They remain adamant that their star quarterback could still play in the regular season finale and it appears that Romo is holding out hope as well.

According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Romo still wants to play despite the injury. Unfortunately, he will likely be unable to do so.

Florio wrote:

Per a league source with knowledge of the situation, Romo wants to play with a herniated disc but most likely can’t.

Despite Romo’s willingness to play, we wouldn’t expect to see him on the field against the Philadelphia Eagles with the NFC East title on the line.

Romo brought a dead team down 9 on the road in a typically really hard place in all eras of this teams history back to a improbable win with a herniated disc.

We should be praying this man plays Sunday. His presence should lift this teams spirits.

If romo plays, we win, and maybe it'll spark this team in the playoffs. I want Garrett fired too but I also want romo to come back and get a big win to shut all the fools up

I'm no doctor but if the team doctors determine no further major damage can be done to the injury, Romo will try to gut it out. I think this will truly go down to Saturday before a definitive decision is made.

I agree. I know fans want to see their team win, but Romo's health/life is at stake. For his own good, I'd rather he be able to play with his kid(s) someday than he play this game for the Cowboys and risk losing all that.

I think that's the issue, that they won't clear him because of what could happen beyond the current injury.
