Tony vs Danny

Playoff record: White 5-5 Romo 1-3.

when the cowboys got the ball back the offense couldn't score if iam correct I think he fumbled the ball

The difference?

Danny - 3 NFC Championship appearances; Romo - 0

List of ANYA NFL ranks throughout their careers in chronological order:

Romo
5th,5th,7th,4th,6th,14th,9th

White
11th,5th,8th,11th,23rd,10th,23rd

I have been told from an older Cowboys fan who has seen both QBs at their best and worst, that White was great as long as the play did NOT break down, no improvisational skills. I should also say, that the same person is NOT a Romo fan.

If a play broke down White reminded me of Bledsoe he couldn't avoid the rush and looked like he was nailed to the turf in the pocket. He had some excellent games possibly the best game White ever played was vs Atlanta in the playoffs during the 1980 season but never had his A-game in the title games. His TD to turnover ratio in his 3 title games was 2-3.

Tony was on a team with 11 pro bowlers.

In name only. No sane person thinks that most of those guys were true Pro Bowlers. Roy Williams et al were very overrated that year.

Stiill, that team did go 13-3 and lose a tight game in the second round of the playoffs to the eventual SB champs.

Thing is I don't recall Danny covering Dwight Clark on the catch? We had the lead and they allowed SF to march 90 yards down field and put up the TD and I can't recall Danny on any of those plays

that is true but Romo is blamed for the defence giving up huge points

Exactly.

You put Romo in that same spot, with that same outcome, and the headline would be how Romo cost the Cowboys the game by fumbling, rather than the fact that the defense gave up a 90 freaking yard drive to blow the lead.

That's the difference between media then and now and fans then and now.

Interesting point. Wonder how ol' Tom would've handled Tony.

Back in Landry's day the NFL wasn't a pass happy league so Tom would have had an easy time handling Romo back then with a solid running game and a great defense. Once the Cowboys started to decline in the mid 80's White's passing attempts increased and so did his turnovers. The worse the defense got the more the Cowboys had to throw. The bad drafts started catching up to the Cowboys in the mid 80's and Landry was still clinging to his flex defense that was outdated. I watched White's Cowboy career from the start and like we've seen with Romo if Danny had too much put on his plate he would fold.

Danny got a lot of blame for that loss, even though he played a good game. I recall the media and fans, at least in my area, calling him out.

difference = playoff games won by Danny. Plus Danny half more charisma. Sadly, he was compensated (for the times) like one of Romo's poor relatives.

In his prime, Danny White was a very good QB but I would take Tony Romo (in his prime) over him any day. Danny was more of a game manager and Tony is a playmaker; I'll take the playmaker.

It was turnovers at the worst moment that have White and Romo compared so often but White was a better elimination game QB than Romo. White won 5 of his 10 elimination games leading the Cowboys to 3 consecutive NFC title games while Romo is 1-6. White had a TD to turnover ratio of 14-12 in his 10 elimination games compared to an 8-12 TD to turnover ratio for Romo in his 7 elimination games. White outplayed the great Joe Montana for 57 minutes in the 81 title game but when the game came down to do or die Montana tossed the go ahead TD and White turned the ball over when he got his shot.

If Tony played when Troy played and vice versa.....

If Danny played when Roger played and vice versa.....

I'm just sayin'.

Danny also did not have the influx of players there was no FA, Dallas still had a quality defense as well as offense. Comparing wins and loses without comparing the overall product is usless. When QB start blocking for themselfs, catching their own passes, playing defense then maybe you can look at the win/loss until then it takes others to win games.
Yeah, for 20 years straight, the colts had not won 10 games. enter Manning, out of 13 seasons, they made the playoffs 11 times. 1 time he was a rookie when they didn't make the playoffs.
Exit Manning for neck surgery, Colts go 2-14. Enter a rookie Luck, playoff team again. So Manning with a messed up neck won 10 games and took his team to the playoffs. No Manning, they were terrible, same team though. Insert Luck, they are a playoff team.

How do you explain that? A QB is the difference between a winning and a losing team. So your theory of a team game is a bad one, sorry. Your excuses for Romo are funny, you're a funny person.
