Danny today would be 62 years old. Danny of 33 years ago couldn't even reach a SB despite having the most talented roster in the NFL. Roger Staubach of 37 years ago couldn't get this current Cowboys team to a SB.

Lets see White can get to the Superbowl were as Romo can't get to a playoff game....LOL.... :)

so was White, he had a great game vs SF in that playoff game, defense had the chance to shut the door they failed to do it and for anyone to lay that at the feet of white really does not fully get this game and what is takes to win. It is more than a QB

That team's Achilles heel revealed itself. The Thurmans Thieves defense was a defense that, as the name suggests, was good at creating turnovers. However, it was also weak against the run. Plus, John Dutton was hurt and was not playing that day. That day compensated, as usual, for it's lack of run stopping ability by getting a lot of turnovers, but eventually when it needed a big stop it could not get it done and the 9ers ran down their throat, finally ending in the catch.

Some help the 9ers got from the refs made matters worse. They missed a blatant PI call in the endzone when Doug Cosbie surely would have caught a TD. The call would have given Dallas a fresh set of downs and goal. Instead, they settled for a field goal. With those extra 4 points they would have had, the so-called "catch" would not have been enough for the 9ers to take the lead.

Btw, one more correction: White does indeed have a Super Bowl ring, just not as the starting QB. He has one that he earned as the backup QB/punter.

Those posting about the '81 Championship game are about to make me cry. That game haunts me like no other. SO CLOSE. At the time I agonized over "the catch" (I hate even writing the term) and how our defense gave up the length of the field. But let's not forget - the defense had given the ball to the offense on SIX turnovers that day. And I recently read an interview with Everson Walls where he complained that it was Benny Barnes who was suppose to be covering that part of the end zone AND the problem on White's fumble was he should've chosen the option of throwing a quick out pattern to Pearson but instead held the ball too long waiting for Tony Hill to break open down field.

Of course, Walls can be forgiven for shifting any "blame" he can to others and who knows whether Barnes was suppose to cover or if White had an option on Pearson. But one thing seems clear to me - it wasn't "the catch" (grrrr) that beat us or Pearson "allowing himself" to be tackled (how can you blame a guy for being tackled from behind?). What ultimately beat us was that fumble. AUGHGHG!! Believe me, I've always felt badly for White and had it not been for the lack of blocking the fumble would never have happened - still he did fumble the ball. They had a first down, 30+ seconds on the clock, one time out and needing 15 yards. Maybe Septien would have missed but had it not been for the fumble he would have almost certainly been given the opportunity to try.

Danny got a lot of blame for that loss, even though he played a good game. I recall the media and fans, at least in my area, calling him out.

A horsecollar tackle was the difference as Pearson had broken free, and we had a reliable kicker who could have potentially won the game.
