Romo will have a job here somewhere once he retires, unless he goes into the analyst gig (He has more TV charisma than his post-game interviews indicate)

That's just embarrassing to have a GM being led by his own QB to find his successor. Don't worry, boss...I'll do your job for you.

But I can't wait for Romo to give us the green light so we can start looking.

Somebody place Tom Landry face down. He doesn't need to see this.

Would you rather go 7-9 and miss the playoffs or 4-12 and get the "chance" to draft our next QB and a bell cow RB high in the second..
That's easy. If we're not going to make the playoffs, which we won't at 7-9, then I'd much rather go 4-12 and have a chance to draft our next QB and a stud RB.

If you're going to have a wasted season, which to me is anything but the Super Bowl or bust, then you better put your team in the best position to improve for next season so it isn't a complete waste.

With that being said, given the Cowboys recent history since Jimmy departed, we'll win just enough games to completely screw our draft position and end up with a mid to late teen pick and be on the outside looking in.

It's the Cowboy way.

I don't see Romo doing any of those things. He comes off as the type who will walk away completely and spend quality time with his family.

What's alarming about that revelation is that it sounds like they're planning to wait until after Romo's career is over to deal with the replacement issue. If they wait until Romo's career is over before they start looking for another QB, it'll simply be way too late.

No competent GM would consider such a hopelessly flawed plan. It might be in the best interest of Romo but surely not in the best interest of the organization to handle things in such a manner. It's a hair-brained idea that no GM but Jerry would even consider. I would only hope they don't wait until Romo has to retire to deal with it.

What? Letting your QB dictate the who and when of your next franchise QB search isn't quality GMing?

Do you really trust Jerry or any one else in the front office to do it? You know the list post Aikman.

Doesn't Tony know that Larry Lacewell and Barry Switzer are already on the job?

You have to admit we have been a pretty good roll the last few years. Our roster looks pretty darn good now. Jerry winning Executive Of The Year award had to really chap haters like yourself didn't it?

He won that on the shoulders of Tony Romo. Just like JG being an offensive "genius". Take Tony away and we have a year...oh wait...this year!

Can Tony be a QB Coach/OC? Why not.

Because very few multi millionaire players want to work 14 hour days as a coach. You make that sort of money and you want retirement to allow you more time with family.

I think he'll probably go into the broadcast booth.
