Former Giants WR Amani Toomer is on Sirius, saying Tony Romo is a better quarterback than Eli Manning. Agree?

Duh?! Of course. I hate those wingers off the back foot that Eli throws up. It flabbergasts me more don't get intercepted although a lot do except when he plays us.

I think Romo has shown consistentcy in his play more so than Eli. Not by accident that Romo has never been under 90 in terms of QB ratings. Eli clearly has the hardware but as I have said before his teammates played a big role in that on both sides of the ball, I take nothing away from Eli but he has had some pretty poor seasons to go along with the hardware

Could Amani Toomer possibly know more and have a better perspective about Eli Manning vs Tony Romo than Marty B does?

Nah, how could that be? /sarcasm

Anyone with half a brain has to realize that Eli has benefited from better defensive support in the years he went to the Super Bowls. The Cowboys D has been the opposite of clutch in big games. It's not just Romo or Eli. The defense matters too. I dont get why people don't see the real problem. I think they have fixed some glaring issues this off season. #1 replacing Terrance "Leap Frog" Newman.

Provided they got the half that works, anyway. If not... well... that would account for the rest. ;)

I came in on the tail end of the broadcast. Anyone hear what he said in support?

I didn't get to hear it at all, zack. Just throwing a few jabs based the OP having relayed Adam Schefter's generalized tweet, myself. Maybe somebody here can/will post the Sirius broadcast for us to listen to, if there's a podcast of it to be had later on.

Eli's center said Romo is top 4 QB so I wonder if he feels he's better also.

i hope so because i want to hear what toomer said.

Define clutch D because I would contend for the most part the Dallas D has been better than the O in big games.

A lot of people blast players/analysts who gives an opinion that is different from their own, but love when the next guy is agreeing with them... I think Eli is better.

It seems like the expectations are going through the roof again, which could spell trouble for the coach if the season turns sour.

That was fast. Thanks, Tezz. I'll listen to it now. Zack and Kristie wanted it too. Sure there are many others, as well.

Appreciate it. :)

Hopefully that starts to change THIS year!!

Here's a hastily put together transcript of Amani Toomer and Tim Ryan, from the SiriusXM Sports Broadcast that Tezz linked:

Discussing Tony vs. Eli:
AT: "You gotta call it like you see it."

AT: "Tony Romo is probably, if you look at it statistically... he's probably the best quarterback in the NFC East."

AT: "You look at Eli Manning and what he does in the fourth quarter, but you talk about consistency, talk about thirty-one touchdowns and only ten interceptions ... that guy can play!"

AT: "And all the Cowboy fans out there that are saying he can't play, saying they don't like him... you gotta really look at what you're getting and you can't replace a guy like that because he is a top, upper echelon quarterback, and I just don't see why he's getting blamed for a lotta these things that kinda aren't his fault."

TR: "Yeah, I agree with everything you said with the exception of the best quarterback in the NFC East. If I started a team and I had to get one of the quarterbacks in the East, tomorrow, it would be Eli Manning."

AT: "Yeah, okay, that's fair. That's fair. But I'm talkin' about, for me, if I wanted a guy that is gonna be, throw less interceptions and be more productive, higher completion percentage, I'm gonna go with Tony Romo."

TR: "I want a guy who's droppin' dimes at crunch time."

AT: "Yeah, that's, ya know, at crunch time he's not as good as Eli, but every other time he's pretty darn good."

You go, Amani. Hahaha. Never liked him as much as I do right at this moment. :D
