Discussing Tony vs. Eli:​

AT: "Tony Romo is probably, if you look at it statistically... he's probably the best quarterback in the NFC East."

AT: "You look at Eli Manning and what he does in the fourth quarter, but you talk about consistency, talk about thirty-one touchdowns and only ten interceptions ... that guy can play!"

AT: "And all the Cowboy fans out there that are saying he can't play, saying they don't like him... you gotta really look at what you're getting and you can't replace a guy like that because he is a top, upper echelon quarterback, and I just don't see why he's getting blamed for a lotta these things that kinda aren't his fault."

TR: "Yeah, I agree with everything you said with the exception of the best quarterback in the NFC East. If I started a team and I had to get one of the quarterbacks in the East, tomorrow, it would be Eli Manning."

AT: "Yeah, okay, that's fair. That's fair. But I'm talkin' about, for me, if I wanted a guy that is gonna be, throw less interceptions and be more productive, higher completion percentage, I'm gonna go with Tony Romo."

TR: "I want a guy who's droppin' dimes at crunch time."

AT: "Yeah, that's, ya know, at crunch time he's not as good as Eli, but every other time he's pretty darn good."

I thik Eli is a very good QB but it the most Jekyll & Hyde QB I have seen. His season are so up and down, yes at times he can go out and put together a very good season as he did this year but he will also go out and put up very poor season. Out of all the great QB I have watched their play did not go up and down like Eli has. There is an inconsistentcy in his play.

Yeah, well a couple of callers after said they would take Eli over Romo because he has two rings and he was a Stealer fan. So, the question then becomes since Eli has two rings and Peyton has one, Eli must be better!

Pat Ryan is such an arrogant jerk. He badgers any listener who calls in supporting Romo, continually demanding examples of Romo performing in "crunchtime" and then storming on about how that wasn't "crunchtime" whenever somebody does. His only pro-Manning fricking argument is "CRUNCTIME! CRUNCHTIME! CRUCHTIME!"

I would argue that NY got to crunchtime on the wings of their defense DESPITE Eli Manning, whereas Romo Is expected to carry the Cowboys as he runs for his life, crappy defense and all. I would argue that multiple times this past season Romo has had his team in front in the fourth quarter and the defense has let its opponent walk down the field and score. How many times did that happen to Eli? How many times have we seen Tony play Houdini and escape pressure the way Eli did in his first SB? I would argue, mister Ryan, that the touchdown Romo laid into Patrick Crayton's hands was a hell of a lot more impressive than the jump ball Eli heaved to Tyree. That was a spectacular catch, not a spectacular throw. Had Crayton handled the easiest catch of his career, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Sorry. I despise Tim Ryan.

I go with you on all of this. Same way I see Eli. Lots of inconsistency. He's a very good quarterback but he has drop-offs where he can be much less consistent than other upper echelon quarterbacks — a group he's promoted as being a member of.

Very good QB. Not elite, IMO.

Actually, it's based on play throughout the playoffs, into the NFC Championship Games and on to Super Bowl victories. But, as you said, that means nothing.

I know Amani. I used to prod him on this subject all the time and he would never concede that Romo was better.

I don't think he really believes what he's saying. He likes to generate a little controversy.
