Fosier commanded a $5M SB - I have to expect TO to be commanding more than a $10M SB?

Thoughts on what it will be?
I think atleast $10 Million. $5 million is the going rate for a Kosier.

Jerry ponied up $20 million between Ferguson and Rivera last season. The Bledsoe window is 1 or 2 season opportunity. TO is a stud WR. TO has the entire package. Witten will thrive. I just hope Keyshawn can play good soldier.

Terry Glenn will dodge the bullet unless Parcells wants a new Buckeye in the draft.

Some people never learn. Why was TO so upset in Philly? Eagles gave him big signing bonus so he was happy first year. In 2nd year he wasn't happy, cause he didn't feel he getting paid enough--he was making $2.5M for 05 and would receive another $5M signing bonus in March 06.
*sigh* this is a common misunderstanding. TO's grievance was with the large roster bonus to be paid in March 06, the same one that you eluded to above. The problem is that the bonus was always just an illusion, it was a poison pill that the Eagles put into the contract so that they could make it seem big but cut him before the date arrives.

TO's new agent saw this plain as day and really, all that he asked was that the roster bonus be guaranteed.

Anyway, my beef was never with TO's contract demands, which were always fair despite the spin from the Beagles' organization. My beef is how he disrespected our team and our star. It will be difficult to stomach a player like that joining our squad, same as it was difficult to stomach Deion in 95. But now, just like then, if it means a Superbowl this year I can live with it. Barely.

How bout we offer him $8.00 hourly. Can work 40+ hours weekly. We will evalutate performence every 6 months and issue a .10-.50 cent raise semi annually if performance merits reward.

TO becomes the top paid WR for 2006, starting wednesday.

If you think any team is going to get him for less then he's worth, you're kidding yourselves. He's the best WR in the game, hands down, and will expect to be paid as such. Fact is, the guy is just to far along in his career to be playing around with some low-end incentive-based contract that rewards him for well-behavior. He's just a risk he knows some team out there will take.

$15-20m Signing Bonus
3 year deal (4th year option)
$7-8m average per year (esculated start to finish - starts @ $5m / ends @ $10m in year 4 option)

After what we have seen today - lets guess on the open Market what TO could sign. Of course all behavior clauses in so lets talk Turkey.

$15M S/B and a 5 year deal
1 $3M
2 $5M
3 $6M
4 $7M
5 $8M

Around a $45M deal and $15M upfront. 2006 of about $6M is about what I see market bearing. Think we go all in on this?

I don't think he gets anything more than $10 million in a signing bonus, and maybe not even much over $5 million. I think teams are genuinely scared to committ money to this guy. Denver was rumored to be a contender for his services and the owner basically told reporters that he didn't want to deal with TO. TO screwed himself over. He's about to find out how much money he lost. It's bad enough signing a guy who may only have one more phenomenal year left in him, it's even worse with the potential blowup issues.

I don't think TO is in any position to make contract demands at this point, teams are very reluctant to go out and spend big money on a team killer such as TO.

..the owner didn't want to deal with him.

But maybe that was because TO's agent had a contract framed out that was meant to only establish serious offers for TO.

Offers that would at least equal to something Dallas might already be intending to offer..?

I still believe the lack of real activity on TO isn't because he's this or that with past problems. Or this or that with money issues.

It's that the other teams already know that Dallas and TO are on the same page and any offer they make would only be shopped to Dallas and they'd never sign him.

So other teams, as happy as they might be to get a guy like TO, don't want to set the market value for Dallas.

Most of them are looking at their other options.

If things fall apart in Dallas in negotiations, then they might get serious. But I think the reality is that other teams just aren't going to pursue what looks like a done deal with Dallas and TO. And also other teams don't have a HC like BP to engineer a player like TO into their team.

It's going to take a firm hand on the rudder and a good rapore with the HC and his team and their front office to bring a guy like TO to their team.

Most other HC would be deathly afraid of TO coming to town and exploding and getting the HC fired.

BP is very solidly in control of his future in Dallas. That makes him deal from a position of strength in any situation like this. He has no fear that a TO bad situation would impede his career or team progress.

We'll see.
