Larry Allen isn't the guard he used to be. Clearly he's lost some of his mobility, though he's still the best OG we had this year. Obviously, the hope is that Rivera will be better next year...and healthier.

Is there any chance at all of pulling a Kennard with LA? Kennard played Center at a pretty high level for a few years at the end of his career. any chance LA could move to C and plug in another OG? If not this year, in the near future?

Adams, (Peterman/Tucker/anyone), Allen, Rivera, (Pettitti/FA/Draft pick)

He probably wouldn't want to make the move, but it would be one less lineman we'd have to replace for a few more years and Bledsoe would have fewer worries about anyone blowing up the middle.

I think larry is to large and lacks flexibility in his arms to execute a proper snap lol

I'd rather see Larry Allen play some 3-4 NT. He could blow up Centers......;)

I prefer Larry Allen as the host of "Fear Factor" starring the team's merry-go-round of kickers.

Allen could never play center, so yes it's a totally insane idea.

I would move Rivera to center, however. That might even prolong his career.

Interesting idea, does Rivera have any experience at C? I thought a read somewhere that he's played C before...

And yes, Allen at C is totally insane. He'd be better suited at FB :)

Has Clearly lost mobility? Can you please cite an example of this? How many games did he play badly? Didnt Larry Allen go to the Pro Bowl..again?

I've watched a lot of Cowboy games, and Larry Allen isn't one of our problems.

Larry Allen is one of the premier OL/Guards in NFL History.

Couldn't??? Or Wouldn't???

Kennard was a bigger man than LA....Donaldson was also a very large man...just wondering. Certainly, it takes more athletic ability to play G than C.

I never hinted that he wasn't good enough to play guard. I noted that he was still the best OG on our team, but he is on the downhill slope of his career...he's not getting better, he's not as mobile as he once was, and that's not going to get better either. Many of us remember the days when we was running with RBs downfield, chasing down defenders on the sideline who made an interception. When was the last time you saw Larry more than 4-5 yards past the LOS??? My point was that we have players on the roster who should be able to step in at G unless they too are busts, and my question was could LA/would LA ever consider playing Center? The move would not be because he needs replacing at G, but because it would keep us from having to go out and bring in another new guy to play center....I labelled the idea as insane, and most others who've read the idea obviously think it's crazy too.

It may not have been anything, but when Johnson was hurt, Rivera was mentioned as our emergency center behind Gurode. Just a thought as I am not sure he played center at Penn State.

Drew Bledsoe after being told he has to stick his hands up under LA's "stinky-place", 40-50 times a game............
