Trade Bait

Thats a BIG if.

Personally, i wouldnt mess with the depth Dallas now has.

yeah as it is easy to see every week that every team has to deal with injuries to significant players…in a 17 game schedule plus playoffs one has to wonder sometimes if the winner is really the best team or the luckiest team just based on injuries. I mean the chiefs had to play with two Chaz Greens at OT in the SB…
Wash gave Tampa a tough game but was playing with their fourth string QB…

simple question is there any offer that a team could make that you would be willing to trade say Gallup? Much like some say they don't understand why anyone would want to trade a player like Gallup I question is there a offer you could not turn down? For me is for instance Pitt says they will offer up a #1 for Gallup I would take it. I figure everyone has a price

So what happens after Collins and Gallup come back? As good as Terrance Steel and Cedrick Wilson are playing right now the Cowboys might want to consider moving on from L'el Collins and Michael Gallup. You could get some really good players for these guys or even better a couple of really high draft picks. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the Cowboys pull off a move for one or even both of these guys.
After years of having no depth, do they really want to trade the depth away now that they have it? It is rare for trades to bring very much more than a 4th or 5th round pick . They will bring higher picks by letting them play out their contracts.

Dallas picked up Cooper before trade deadline for a 1st. I don't think it is all that rare, especially as teams are running into injuries.

I never understand the desire to trade depth during a season, especially when the team has a recent history of depth problems at some of the very same positions.
Thank you oh wise one.......let's pretend injuries don't exist.

Some days I wonder just what, exactly, this fan base wants.

Sheesh.......

I hate trading away Offensive Line talent. Depth there is key and Kansas City last year taught you why. Gallup is slightly different - we have a ton of weapons on offense between the receivers, TE's and RB's. I like Gallups physicality but is it realistic that we are going to retain him in the offseason? If we can't and looking at the depth at receiver with Amari, CeeDee, Wilson, Brown, Schultz, Jarwin it might be more interesting to see if we can't see what sort of interest there is out there for Gallup.

Gallup is not tradeable. Nobody with trade for him because they know he will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season since the Cowboys don't have the salary cap space to resign and keep him.

Unless a team in contention loses a starting WR.

That's your argument?? 12 personal huh, well that 12 personal seems to be in the defensive secondary a lot, I don't know about you but I see Schultz and Jarwin down the field involved in the pass pattern maybe I've been watching the wrong game, 12 personal my ***!
Yep! And eventually we’re gonna have to play a team that these slow starts ain’t going to cut it. They’re not going to have the luxury of the TE chipping before he goes into his route and the WR can’t beat single coverage for more that two receptions a game. Steele is gonna get beat for 3 sacks and the blueprint for how to beat this team is going to be set. But hey, let’s trade away the players we don’t have to make accommodations for! Lol Jarwin?

I disagree, the reason a team would do it is to keep cost down instead of competing for him in FA. A trade voids other teams from making offers and 2nd any team who would sign him would likely do so with a contract extension. Value of player goes up when you are forced to compete with other teams in FA

You never trade depth. Should Collins go down with an Injury, or another suspension, we know we have a very solid backup in Steele. Honestly though Steele could probably start for most teams in the league right now. We need to hold onto him as best we can

Another thing that happens when Collins comes back will be that they will have a package with Steele, Collins, and McGovern on the field at the same time in short yardage and goal line. McGovern will be the fullback and either Steele or Collins will be a tight end. Good luck with stopping them.

???

Gallup would never agree to a trade if he felt he wasn't going to get paid what he knows he's worth. Cowboys would have to sign him to a big contract, first, before they could attempt to trade him. Gallup would never agree to any trade that would hurt his chances of getting $$$$ offers that he knows he is worth.

Here we go again with the "trade our depth" thread after so many long years of NOT HAVING ANY DEPTH!

They aren't trading Gallup.

Collins is a big upgrade and we need Gallup with Cooper's lingering injuries, so NO.

I would expect a contract extension would be what the 2 (Gallup and fill in the blank) sides agree on. All it avoids is having others jumping into the mix.

That is the only way a trade would work, but the Cowboys don't even have the cap space to make such a sign-n-trade to work, so might as well forget about being able to trade Gallup.

If the Cowboys don't find a way to create room at the end of the season to retain him, Gallup is going to leave as an unrestricted free agent while the Cowboys will get nothing in return as compensation.
