Trade Bait

Collins starts hands down. I know we are happy with Steele, but his no where close to collins. he gets a lot of help. watch the games and you will see how much help he is getting from the TEs....

and none of the ones you names give me any level of comfort if they have to play.....the cupboard is bare

When was the last time you saw Collins play? He played 1 game so far the past two seasons.

Were you one of those experts who told everyone how bad Steele would be this year?

oline and wr depth is a good thing!!!!!

one play is all it take to turn a deep group into a weakness in the nfl it is different from the other sport. it is a nasty game!

OMG. you are making me cry....we saw knight last year. he sucked. ball is a rookie and barely made the team. farnoik struggled mightily in preseason....and Nsekhe is a journey man.

and why trade collins now? in the middle of the season. why not do it after the season? if Collins is so good that he might fetch a 1st, why not keep him and make a run. he is good right? and if he is not good, then he wouldn't fetch much, same as after the season.....

you logic makes no sense.

Sounds like you know nothing about OL talent.

Are we really going to just cut guys lose now because the Cowboys beat up on the Eagles, Giants, and an overrated Panthers team? Something tells me when we get to playing the good teams again, we are going to appreciate having Collins and Gallup on the roster.

he also had another year on his contract......he wasn't an 8 game rental

and again anyone willing to trade would likely do so with an extension but even if they did not it would be between Gallup and whomever. Lastly he has no say in any trade, from what I see there is no non trade clause in his deal. I would just as soon keep him but I never say never, if a deal was presented that again gave Dallas a #1 I do it. Do I expect that to happen no but it would be a price I would require before I made a trade involving him.

donte jackson. don't see it happening, not advocating it, just something i saw floating around. he's on the last year of his deal and they just drafted horn and traded for gilmore and henderson. they're also in desperate need of OL help
is he really that much better than brown? would this defense be that much better? compared to offense when Gallup returns...

given both of them are half year rentals.

When did Farniok struggle? Show us some film. All preseason games are on YouTube.

Gallup could renege on that trade and refuse to sign it if it doesn't pay him what he feels is a fair price for his services, especially since he knows he's about to become an unrestricted free agent by the end of this season.

that would be between Gallup and whomever and fact is he has no say in any trade, unless a player has a no trade clause in his contract which is highly unlikely on a rookie contract he would have no say in any deal.

schultz maybe. not so much jarwin. Steele is getting a lot of help on the run game. he is not as good or powerful as Collins. he is decent in pass protection, but still gets a lot of help....he has been a good surprise. gives us comfort that if necessary, he can step in and hold the fort....but schedule is about to get tougher, we need to make playoff run. its time to try and cash in, not plan for next year in the middle of the season. and if we want to, we can make a trade in off season with collins.
Well let me give you a little heads up on years past......Steve Burlien filled in for Aikman in 91 when Aikman was healthy Burlien stayed in as the starting quarterback. In 92 when John Gesek got hurt in came Kevin Gogan and he remained the starter when Gesek came back see what I'm getting at.

so it goes back to an 8 game rental. of course the deal next year would be between gallup and whichever team. I never said he has any no trade clause in his contract.....I think it may have been somebody else.

it depends on the #1 deal........and I seriously doubt anyone would.....I think that's just cowboys fans fantasy...he is not a #1. has 8-9 games or so left this year. cooper was a clear #1. had a year left on his contract. cowboys were desparate (as jerry often does). the most we may get out of gallup if anyone is really that desparate is 2nd....and that would be a low second because struggling teams won't trade away picks. its a playoff team, that might have injuries at WR....

Gallup could refuse to accept a trade if it doesn't pay him close to what he's worth. He could refuse to suit up for whatever team he got traded to and become an unrestricted free agent after sitting out a whole year.

What are Gallups stats which should garner a high draft pic in trade.

I'm not saying I would give that up what I am saying it that would be my lowest price tag. It is worth more to me to keep Gallup than to trade him but if someone where willing to give up a #1 then yes I would do it. Hearing people hollering they would never trade? I think is foolish at the right price I there are few I would not trade, that price may be unrealistic but that is what the player is worth to me.

when gallup leaves, depending on size of contract we could get a 3rd in return. worse case a 4th.

so is dropping down one round vs. having gallup to make a run.....its an easy decision.
If I could get what is likely a high second I’d have to consider it though it’s a risk. The risk is Cooper or lamb getting injured
But a trade nets you a pick next year vs a comp a year later
But it would take a high second for me because it comes with risks and with him being a FA the next year I don’t think you could get a high second

He can’t refuse a trade
He could sit out but that cost him a lot of money and rarely works out for players

I doubt it as well again it is not the price some other team want to pay it is the price I would be willing to do so. Will it happen? highly unlikely but again is some offered a #1 you would turn it down. If I were actively looking to trade a player then I'm more apt to that the best deal I can, If I'm not so willing to trade then the price tag becomes what I demand for him.

Sell high, buy low. Collins’ price is maybe the highest it will be right now. There are teams desperate for starting OT talent right now.

The team is at a crossroad with the starting OT position. Steele’s arrow is pointing up, Collins down. Who starts? Do you reward Collins for his abhorrent behavior these past two years and gift him the starting position? Or do you reward Steele for his hard work and improvement? Do you stop the progress of Steele for a lying drug addict who quit on the team last year and who last played well in 2019?

What is the message you want to send to your team? What is the culture of the team? These questions are much more important to the team than depth right now. We are talking about the heart and soul of a team.

Steele or Collins? Which one starts. This question must be answered soon and not swept under the carpet with some BS explanation.

Reward Steele or allow Collins to continue his BS shenanigans? The team is watching.

Collins quit on the team, he quit on his teammates, he quit on his friends, he quit on the fans. He put drugs above football. You want to reward that? You want to keep that? You want more of that from Collins? You want similar behavior from other stars down the line?

When is enough enough?

Gallup is a different story. He is a good player who does all the right things and just got injured. He is the type of player you want to keep. So is Wilson. Might not be able to keep both after this year. Tough decision.

Stealers got rid of Antonio Brown. Similar situation with Collins.
Great Post ninja!
