Trade Bait

When was the last time you saw Collins play? He played 1 game so far the past two seasons.

Were you one of those experts who told everyone how bad Steele would be this year?
preseason and first game of the season. against Tampa. he did well. and based on 2018 and his play that year. he was probowler.....

you have a case of grass is greener on the otherside syndrome.....steele is good, but not collins good.

you think steele is on an island by himself....from time to time...but he gets plenty of help.

why so eager to try and trade our players.....and if we do trade for future considerations. and steele gets hurt...do you trust any of the guys you mentioned to step in and the offense not to suffer? smith has been injured every year in the past 5 years....so when he goes down, do you trust any of those guys to protect Dak?

is he really that much better than brown? would this defense be that much better? compared to offense when Gallup returns...

given both of them are half year rentals.

brown has been playing really well lately, so i can't say for sure. but they defintely think highly of him over there and he's gotten some solid praise in the media as a budding young corner. not for gallup though, they're looking for OL help.

If I could get what is likely a high second I’d have to consider it though it’s a risk. The risk is Cooper or lamb getting injured
But a trade nets you a pick next year vs a comp a year later
But it would take a high second for me because it comes with risks and with him being a FA the next year I don’t think you could get a high second

see I would take nothing less than a #1.

I wouldn't trade collins. we are in the midst of a good season. make post season. hopefully make a run. we are not 7 deep at OL realistically...mcgovern at all three inside positions. Steele as a swing tackle. long season. injuries happen on the OL. I don't trust any of the other guys....I mean we complain incessently about Biadasz and Williams and now we want to risk and put a much lesser OL man out there with them.... if there is any trade value for collins, it will be there after the season too....so no thanks

Given the teams likely to make a trade the chances of a high second is probably less than a first
A team that’s bad wouldn’t make the trade anyway
But a team looking to pick say 30 or higher might just to get them picking last lol
I don’t think it would happen but no way would I turn down a first

We don’t have the depth at tackle to trade Collins

I used Pitt as an example Smith is gone for the season and Pitt hurting for a WR, lets say they ask about Gallup, if they are willing to pay a #1 pick I do it, if not I keep Gallup either way I win.

For my reasoning go see my response earlier to Reality in this thread. This is about something more than depth.

Sell high, buy low. Collins’ price is maybe the highest it will be right now. There are teams desperate for starting OT talent right now.

The team is at a crossroad with the starting OT position. Steele’s arrow is pointing up, Collins down. Who starts? Do you reward Collins for his abhorrent behavior these past two years and gift him the starting position? Or do you reward Steele for his hard work and improvement? Do you stop the progress of Steele for a lying drug addict who quit on the team last year and who last played well in 2019?

What is the message you want to send to your team? What is the culture of the team? These questions are much more important to the team than depth right now. We are talking about the heart and soul of a team.

Steele or Collins? Which one starts. This question must be answered soon and not swept under the carpet with some BS explanation.

Reward Steele or allow Collins to continue his BS shenanigans? The team is watching.

Collins quit on the team, he quit on his teammates, he quit on his friends, he quit on the fans. He put drugs above football. You want to reward that? You want to keep that? You want more of that from Collins? You want similar behavior from other stars down the line?

When is enough enough?

Gallup is a different story. He is a good player who does all the right things and just got injured. He is the type of player you want to keep. So is Wilson. Might not be able to keep both after this year. Tough decision.

Stealers got rid of Antonio Brown. Similar situation with Collins.

This is an excellent good intention and as you said send the message post. It would also follow up on a potential culture change decision made earlier in cutting Jaylon regardless of eating salary.

It's just that all of CowboysFaninHouston's rebuttals are as equally important if not more so for THIS year.

Both sides have merit but in this year to year NFL in which the team actually looks to have a shot if this o line can maintain its health, I think the move to stand pat and keep these valuable starter or depth pieces outweighs the high draft pick option.

If it were any other year Ninja, and Moore had the offense throwing it 50 times a game and there was no Coach Quinn and Parsons on dee with reinforcements on standby, I would be all in on your side.

Me, the total skeptic and eternal pessimist, thinks THIS YEARs team just may have a chance IF THIS coach doesn't flock it up, and this o line remains healthy. And that's only with Steele AND Collins staying put.

Not to say your side has no merit, just NOT this year with THIS team.

Haven't felt this way since 2007. And that 2007 defense was wayyyyy more talented than this one.
But I sure hope this year's eventual outcome improves upon that years one and done result.

But yeah, injuries are bound to happen so I'd keep everybody for this year's run at a trophy.

Just answering his question who is going to be released when Gallup and Collins returns

oh, ok, that makes more sense. I took it as if they been released. Which could have been done today. As the link last transaction date was the 11th.

He could refuse TO ACCEPT a trade, thus leading to him sitting out a whole year.
Why would he
Then he wouldn’t get paid
The only teams that would make a trade would be a team that thinks they can make a serious run. Why would he hurt his value by sitting out when he could play and possibly increase his value and have all the leverage in negotiating a new deal
Lots of players get traded but very rarely does a guy sit out most of a season to avoid a trade. I can’t think of any

Exactly
That’s an offer you can’t refuse

This has been discussed several times and there are recent threads on this.

Why would want to trade away quality players when the team has put itself in a position to win the division and potentially make a deep playoff run? This is a time to keep quality talent.

Have you noticed how players can miss 1-2 weeks and not be injured? Depth can quickly disappear.

Exactly.

This is no time to rebuild the team.

Injuries happen.

If they do, we want to be able to plug guys in without missing a beat.

To me it is the only way, I get what I want or I keep Gallup. His value to me may be greater than what another team may be willing to offer but if they are willing I would listen.

Problem is you can't keep it all. I am big fan of Gallup but at the right price yes would trade him. Hershel Walker used to be a favorite of mine as well
I think drafting Lamb was the writing on the wall for Cooper, not Gallup. Cooper’s big contract and his pestering injuries are two very reasons to cut Cooper and resign Gallup. Gallup, Lamb and Wilson would be a better than average group of WRs. Cooper has played very well at times and very inconsistent at other times.
