And that's exactly why they wouldn't do the trade for only a 3rd.

Solid tackle for basically 2 years 19 million for the team that gets him (which is a steal) while Houston loses a high level starter and has to eat 34 million dollars of dead cap.

I would imagine if they realistically wanted to trade him (not "where not interested but if you give us this stupid amount of course we'll take it") but an actual legtimate trade interest they would want at least a 2nd and a 4th (maybe even swap the 4th for a comp 3rd)

Yeah i'd say a 2nd and a 4th or a 2nd and a prospect player would be realistically what it would take for Houston to even entertain the idea of trading him

Yep. That dead cap hit is exactly why Houston won’t be trading Tunsil. They can’t afford to.

The cost to the Cowboys is only about 1M for 2022. The Texans would have to eat the remainder of the cost due to how it is structured.

The Cowboys would have the option to keep him in 2023 for 18M.

It would be worth a 3rd.

How much would we save cutting Tyron after this year. We cut Amari for what? Make a move Tunsil would be heaven sent. Is a 3rd enough? Seems very light.

No one.

Save the draft capital.

Sign a FA next week.

How many picks have we hit on last two years after the first. Incredible first rounders so we can’t complain but other then Diggs our second and third rounders have been horrible. Why not get aggressive like the rams? We’re talking LT here not just any old position.

Honestly, I think Fisher is the best choice. Considering we are going to get destroyed on Diggs, Parsons, and Dak again. 1 year rental with Fisher and then get a LT next year in the draft.

If we drafted Tyler Smith to be our future LT then might as well get him started there now. Unless we spent a 1st rounder on a LG while we had an aging, injury prone LT.

What I would do is Send DT Hill and a 7th rounder to the Pat's for Isiah Wynn.

Then see if I could sign Fisher.

I would talk to Smith about retirement.
Hos knees just aren't good anymore. He is a fantastic person and player when healthy. But as he gets further along he just keeps getting hurt.

Our other Smith needs to stay a OG. Do everything you can to keep him there at that spot.

And the reason why I Add Wynn and Fisher. Is simple.
Wynn let's you see what he has over all ais a Swing is young and puts ball and long W ne on blast. But he also puts Steele on blast aswell.
Fisher starts with a short leash

The problem with Wynn is his size. This coaching staff want tall, long tackles. In their eyes someone like Wynn is an OG.
I haven’t watched him enough to know but he’s better than anyone we have
He’s an expensive option because if you give much for him you can’t let him walk next year
Trading for a guy in last year of contract is a huge decision

Not much you could do with Tyron now since an injury settlement for that long of an injury would cost most of what you owe him
After the season though I’d have that talk
He’s only got one year left on his deal and him not being on the team saves a significant amount of money next year

So whom would be trade candidates at LT for Dallas.

Dillard from Philly - has had problem and GM loves to fleece teams especially Dallas

Leatherwood from Vegas - just don't see him as a decent LT or OG for that matter

Tunsil from Houston - Texans would like to move on from him especially with cap hit of $35 mill in 2023

Backup LT in Green Bay - looks to be a nice find but GB will want to much

If we could get Tunsil for a 3rd and a player or two then he would be best bet because he is a very good LT and only 28. Could really solve a problem quickly.

No more Coop-type deals to save the unsavable!!!
They roll with what they got and if they are worthy of their paychecks God bless them!
If not .....Next!!!!!!! as 6 years of the same old same old even has Jerry raising his hands!!!

I'd throw a 2nd at Houston for Tunsil. We usually throw our 2nd round picks away anyway so why not use a 2nd rounder on an established player.
They haven’t thrown away their seconds though. They’ve had some damn good players and they should still get them.

I don’t want to roll with what we have but I agree, no more first round picks and then have to pay a guy a big contract

So interested a 40 year old Jason Peters who plays guard now but wants to be paid like a tackle and sucks in pass protection.

But pass on two better players who can actually can play tackle?

Because they don't want to pay anyone. Whoever is the cheapest option is their candidate. These two clowns don't really care about wining, the franchise is worth 8 billion in their eyes they are winning.

This team needed a swing tackle pretty bad before the injury and how did they address that? Do we really expect they will be able to come up with a good option now in this position? Piss poor front office lead by the Jones boys so keep your expectations very low.

They should have planned this from the beginning. It's so stupid to think that having a backup swing tackle is your 6th round rookie.

The FO has the cap space to get themselves an LT months ago. Now their in a bind on giving a draft picks and possibly overpaying for a dependable swing tackle.

Jerry might as well bend over. Any team he calls right now about a LT be like:

Tunsil would work....but it's not happening with that contract.

We need our cap space for......yeah I'm not sure.
well, its not just us...but Texans who would have to take a 34M deadcap hit this year if they trade him, then we would need to redo his contract, extend him to reduce the 35M cap hit next year.

I think Smith is done. coming back from this injury will be hard for him and he may retire, so we need a LT and if we think Tunsil is good , he maybe an option
