I know I'm going to get flamed for this but I think we have to put emotions aside . He has become a huge liability in run support these last two seasons . He is wearing down and his best years are behind him .

If we could get a 1st round pick from a team choosing in the top 16 we should do it . We could ask for a 1st and 4th .

We take the best OLB dion Jordan and we draft the best OL @ 18 .

Out linebackers would be young and set :

Jordan /lee / carter / spencer

I thank ware for all he has done but he is soft guys . He doesn't bring that intensity that a true leader on defense should bring ( r Lewis , Haley ) etc .

I'm with that..which basically means Jerry will extend him too.

who would give a high first for such a worn out veteran?

Oakland. Look what they gave up for Palmer.

There is probably a legit argument to do it if the Cowboys can get a 1st round draft pick in return.

I guess it depends on whether you think Ware is going to return to the 15+ sack range next year and that this year was a blip (as opposed to the rule going forward) in terms of injuries.

His constant neck stingers are very worrisome.

Demarcus Ware isn't a worn out veteran. He's just injured and he limped his way to double digit sacks.

He's still got 3-5 years of really good play in him.

Not saying I wouldn't see what I could get in a trade but I would want a ransom for him.

As insane as it sounds. I wouldnt cry about it. But i think a team like the ravens or jets or pats would jump

I'm all on board with it. But that means Jerry will be completely against he. He and I disagree about everything.

i would welcome some proactive thinking like this. this team/franchise are so reactive about everything. never thinking 3-5 years ahead. this dline is OLD as dirt. we need lots of young players.

To my knowledge, his injuries were mostly upper body.

He never had any burst this year, and that's VERY concerning to me.

It might sound harsh, and I'm thankful for what he's done here, but it's very possible that we can get more out of a first round pick than he's going to bring to the table anymore.

No one is going to give a 1st round pick for DWare. No one. He has serious neck issues and will be battling stingers for the rest of his career. With that said DWare and Witten are untradeable in my opinion. Both of them have given everything to this team and both deserve to retire as Cowboys. Ware even took a discount on his contract so he could help the team. I know Jones is criticized for being too loyal, but there is no way I would trade either one of them. Ware would only get a 2nd round pick and Witten would only get a 3rd rounder. Their current production is worth more than that.

I'd do it for a 2nd round pick if offered. Ware is a beast, but his best days are behind him

Has anyone thought about the cap implications? I'm pretty sure that Ware can't be moved at this time without gutting our salary cap. If you want a blockbuster trade idea move Romo, most of his guaranteed money has been accounted for.

Craig

He's only 30. Yes, he got bit by the injury bug pretty bad this year, but it's a little early to give him away in a trade. He's a once in a generation pass rusher. Now obviously if someone offered something Herschel Walker like for him, you have to consider it. But, it's way too soon to ship him off for a mid-round pick. Do you honestly think you can draft someone in the second who will contribute as much as Demarcus Ware over the next 5 years. If not, it's a bad trade.

Felix for a 6th, Ratliff for a 3rd, Ware for a 1st and a 4th, Miles for a 2nd...lets rebuild...

As much as I'd hate to see ware in another uniform I'd be ok with it if we received a first and second or third

Get out of the emotional aspect of realistically look at Ware. He is on the decline. He is starting to get injury prone and his age won't help him. He was an elite pass rusher but in my opinion he was never an elite all around player. He's not a leader and he was never a physically imposing player. Soon they need to start looking for his replacement. With that being said he will retire as a cowboy. He's a good man. But the clock is ticking on his pass rushing skills. There will be a point where he will be a situational pass rusher in his career.

I've been saying for the last 3 seasons to trade him. He just doesn't bring us a whole lot of value on this defense. He doesn't impact the game nearly enough for someone who is supposedly the best in the league and a sure HOF'er. But now I feel with his age and him being so banged up, there is no way you get a 1st rounder at all.

And yes, he is horrible at run defense. He never has any contain to his side at all. Which is why RG3 and Morris ran to his side countless times for easy yards. He's always looking up field to get to the QB. They just go right around him. Maybe staying at home to contain isn't sexy enough.

Time to move on from him.
