Trade D Ware...

I'm in favor of trading both Ware and Austin. If we could get anything for Ratliff I would absolutely be in favor of that as well. Felix on the other hand is a free agent.

Our defense was designed around Ware, and as such it has never really highlighted any players. When Ware doesn't get pressure, the defense doesn't get pressure.

We need to look at our entire outside linebacker situation. Perhaps even consider the 4-3.

But we can't continue to not have a pass rush. It's killing us. And Ware and Ratliff represent that. Inconsistent pass rush, and inability to stay healthy.

If we could get 1st and 2nd or 1st and 3rd for Ware we should jump on it.

If we could get a 3rd for Austin, we should jump on it.

If we could geta 4th or 5th for Ratliff we should jump on it.

Get out of the emotional aspect of realistically look at Ware. He is on the decline. He is starting to get injury prone and his age won't help him. He was an elite pass rusher but in my opinion he was never an elite all around player. He's not a leader and he was never a physically imposing player. Soon they need to start looking for his replacement. With that being said he will retire as a cowboy. He's a good man. But the clock is ticking on his pass rushing skills. There will be a point where he will be a situational pass rusher in his career.

This.

Can you imagine if we were able to move Ware for a 1st around this April to a team, that'll be most likely in the bottom 5 next year (Jax, KC, Oak, etc), then we parlay that into taking Clowney in the '14 draft??? He may aleady better than D Ware at this stage of their careers, on just pure pass-rushing ability.

Has anyone thought about the cap implications? I'm pretty sure that Ware can't be moved at this time without gutting our salary cap. If you want a blockbuster trade idea move Romo, most of his guaranteed money has been accounted for.

Yes, all prorated bonus money would accelerate into the 2013 cap if Ware was traded.

DWare as a situational pass rusher later in his career, would be great im thinking (Jeffcoat) or better. He will retire a cowboy and should. Here is a novel concept, get DL men who can get to the QB and not rely on DWare to make all of your sacks.

Get a true NT and some serviceable 3-4 DE. If we had an OLB to match 1/4 of wares production in stead of relying on him to do it all. Spencer comes out of a free agent year and picks up career sacks, where was this a year ago. Let's not forget his infamous qoute" I admit taking plays off". Give Ware some real help and watch him shine.

No one is saying ware can't rush the passer . But he simply has become a huge liability in the run game . I've seen way to many rbs just go right through his gap .

$17 million dollar cap hit if he's traded. Dream on, dreamers, dream on.

:laugh2:

Anyone wanting to trade Ware is just as reactionary as anyone in the front office.

Buy low, sell high.

Ware is coming off a very rough season, so we should trade him when his value is lowest? Just like how everyone is clamoring to sign Spencer now that his value his highest?

If anything we should franchise/trade Spencer and keep ware based off this threads logic.

Honestly it seems like the less popular a decision is on this board the better it will likely be, and the most popular decisions are the ones I've grown to fear.

____

The point I'm trying to make is this, if trading Ware is being proactive and not reactionary, why are we waiting until his worst season to be so "forward thinking"? I'll tell you why, it's because you are all being reactionary.

Unfortunately, it's easy to sort out the people who've negotiated something from those who haven't. This - after Ware's worst game as a pro in what I think was his weakest season as a pro, hampered by injuries more than he ever has been - is the absolute worst time to think about trading Ware.

Of course he has a market, but do you think other teams don't have televisions too?

This is an All-Pro player who was hampered by injuries and perhaps some other factors during a down year. I think there's no reason to think he won't bounce back to have 4 or 5 more years of phenomenal production, but if you're going to trade a player like this (and I don't think we should be), now is the worst possible time.

HELL NO.
He's hurt, having a hurt shoulder affects how good you can run. I've played sports and I hurt my shoulder and arm before and could hardly move.

Ware is the face of the Cowboys D and a phenominal player. He still has gas in the tank. Don't let the injury fool you, he is still a beast. You don't trade away a proven player that still has some good ball left in him for the next few years to draft a player thats unproven.

I seen a trade similar to this go down a few years ago and it still hasn't worked out. Jared Allen was beastin' in KC and they traded him to Minnesota. KC spent their highest draft picks two years straight for the D-line. Glenn Dorsey and Tyson Jackson and both have been busts so far.

I would take Ware in a heartbeat over Aldon Smith. So maybe the 49ers can work out a deal;)

It works both ways. Look at New England. They trade players off before they lose all their value.

How old was Allen when he was traded? How old is Ware now? Think about it.

For years I urged a Jay Ratliff trade and now it's too late.

Now is the time to trade Ware before he's not worth anything. We have to invest in Spencer now he's the future.

we wait to long to make moves..

I would trade him for a 1 and 3. Or a 2 and a 1 in 2014.

Then I'd trade down this year to acquire another first in 2014.

Three 1's in 2014... plenty of ammo to get Clowney. :D

Spencer is only two years younger than Ware.

someone forgot to lock the door to the local peculiar parlor. Several inmates escaped and are now posting on this board.

Why trade a proven sack getter and a once in a generation player to take a punt on a young player?? It just does not make sense and Yes Ware was injured this year and banged up but gee you don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

The only thing Ware needs is help with another solid pass rusher next to him and only on armchair forums is it important to be young than actually have talent. Ware is 1 of 2 players from this current core group of the last 6 years that is going to the HOF. Trading our best pass rusher is just absurd regardless of what pick we get.

Meh..Ware doesnt need another pass rusher he needs to become a more well rounded player. If all we needed was pass rush we can put Butler on the other side. It doesn't work thay way. What we need is another Spencer not a sack specialist.
