I've been hearing this "We're only a player or two away from the Super Bowl" argument/logic for over a decade.
The brutal truth is, we aren't that close. During that time, we were never even close to a Super Bowl. All we got was as far as the divisional playoffs.
We bragged about our great offensive line, yet that line gave up six sacks of Romo in the 2009 Vikings playoffs and six sacks in the 2014 Lions playoffs. The Cowboys defense was supposedly good, until it got ripped by the Vikings and Rams in the playoffs. Murray was a great running back........until he wasn't. Zeke didn't do much in the playoffs. The Cowboys secondary was beaten time and time again when it mattered.
Every time we plug a hole, several more holes appear on the roster as gaping deficiencies.
