Trade Parsons after the season

I would rather we build the defense to be one of the top defenses in the league. The question is, do they build from scratch or build around the best players they already have? Keeping in mind Jerry does not sign top free agent talent, I don't think trading away the best player on defense is the best approach.

When discussing any trade the question is, what do we get in return? Some people here sound like they just want to get rid of Parsons and the return doesn't matter. IMO, I would not trade Parsons for anything less that 2 firsts and 2 seconds. That's my price and I am sticking to it. But even then, where are those first round picks? If they fall into the 20s then the chances of finding another player better than Parsons are slim to none. People think 1st round picks are automatic pro-bowl players. Only about 40% of 1st round players make the pro-bowl historically so there is a 60% chance the players are not that impactful.

Maybe 4 players gets you enough talent in wo drafts to make up for the loss of Parsons.

I'd want at least 2 firsts for him, and ideally a lot more. Otherwise, I could see us keeping him and bringing in Warren Sapp as a dline coach or DC.

I don't get all this recent "Trade Micah trade CeeDee Trade whoever" idiocy on this board lately.

I've long known that we are the DUMBEST fandom in the NFL but whew buddy

Yeah, let's trade our absolute best players away instead of trying to retool around them. What a great plan!

We will get 2 firsts for Micah.

This is getting blown completely out of context (no surprise). He said he wants to win for his teammates like Zack Martin. Saying that Zack Martin has worked harder playing in the trenches than McCarthy has as a coach is controversial now??

The full clip for ACTUAL context. How anyone could watch this and say “I want that guy off my team” is honestly laughable.

Agree and I think the defensive guys especially loved Dan Quinn and likely wanted him as Head Coach. They see how well Washington are playing with a rookie QB and Dan Quinn as Head Coach then of course it will be frustrating for the players as they will feel he should be their HC.

Jimmy Johnson back in the day said you need players who can score tds or stop the other guy from scoring tds. Micah and Diggs do that. On offense we have Ceedee. That's not enough. You need more. An elite running back would help. Another elite pass rusher would help. Maybe an elite DT, but Washington had two elite inside DTs, and did nothing until they drafted a QB.

If we have a top 3 draft pick next year we have to go QB if an elite talent is there. He'll the Giants are gonna cut Daniel Jones and they are paying him a ton of money.

Sorry, what Micah said rubbed me the wrong way there. If he's going to say what he's going to say, maybe it should be better done on his podcast where he can explain the context behind what he is trying to say. I can't imagine how Mike wouldn't be putting in more work than the players. Coaches always put in a ton of work. Is Mike a good coach? No. But do I think he's not putting in the work? I think he's putting in the work. That's where I take issue with what Micah said. If he were to say that Mike was not getting the job done, I'd have no problem with it .
and i'm sorry you don't understand how this TEAM, right now needs to be more like that. Jerry wont act without it..

I guess that's valid. I basically heard the full statement, and then posted my thoughts on it. Maybe if what Parsons said brings change for the better, then it worked. I just had an issue with the idea of questioning McCarthy's work ethic. But, maybe he's challenging the coach to do better, the way a coach would challenge a player to improve.

I'm just saying you guys want the fire GM protest you want the booze in the crowd you wanna know what will get Jerry going start having all his star players in public criticizing the coaching staff just like Barry switzer and Troy Aikman it's no different man you all are being hypocrites... We won't know how it works but I want all the players complaining about everything under the sun pun intended including the glass the more you put pressure on Jerry in public that's where his wheelhouse is he doesn't wanna be embarrassed and what's the worst thing that can happen either nothing happens and maybe you get Micah Parsons ran outta here because Jerry don't wanna hear him but I doubt that he's already publicly endorsed Michael Parsons is getting signed next year..

At some point the protests have to start from within the locker room and then it's gonna have to go into the public media and that's where we're at right now him protecting Mike McCarthy and saying that he doesn't wanna regret firing him no he should've been fired the moment they arrived back at the ranch this morning this stuff should have been packed the doors have been locked the key codes changed elevate Mike Zimmer for the rest of the year let al Harris get some work at defensive coordinator at least calling some plays and I wanna see somebody even schottenheimer how about make some *** **** schemes that work.. I'm sick of it looking like the three stooges we have players running into each other all the time the routes are terrible the play calling is equally as horrible some of the stuff that says head scratching all of us would have done what when Cooper rush would have started yesterday come out and ran the ball on 1st and 2nd down was that three passes in a row even though one was short but you throw it to CD lamb in the first series behind the line of scrimmage with a bad shoulder I mean this is monkey business this does look like that old show the monkeys the three stooges I have never seen so many players running routes into each other or in front of each other or so close that DVS can actually help each other out they can just break off and turn into double coverage once a quarterback already threw the football and now they just peel off this is monkey stuff I'm sick of it you want protest to fire GM nonsense and the booze in the crowd this is it next level is having your players call out coaches in public this is the day and age we do this and Charles Haley did it in 8 minutes way back in the day....

I would trade him but Jerry won't. It'll be just like dlaw, get paid top dollar then sit back and coast to a few sacks a year not caring if you win or lose cause hotboyz lifestyle is what they are about.
Exactly.

Diggs huh? He gives up a ton of TDs and big plays.

Parsons hasn't made one single valuable play in his entire playoff tenure. These guys are all flash, no substance. Diggs dropped about the easiest pick you can have in the SF 2023 playoff game that would have stopped SF's only TD play.

These 2 guys embody everything wrong with the Cowboys culture. Diggs taking after grandpa Jerry and attacking media members like a clown.

So you are saying we have zero players worth keeping on defense? If that's the case what's your plan to turn it around?

While it's not a direct comparison, essentially Parsons = Herschel Walker.

A huge talent that some team will pay a handsome price for. Jerry could ask, and get, imho, at least 2 no. 1 picks and a couple of players.

No team is going to duplicate what the Vikings gave up, that turned out so lopsidedly in favor of Dallas I seriously doubt any team didn't learn that giving up that much isn't a wise decision.

But yeah, trade Parsons, ride out a year or two for the draft picks to be made, and go from there...

Exactly what better way than the players blasting the coaching and the state of what they're thinking out loud in public because they're not reading this Jerry Jones in the front office aren't reading any of this we're venting here they're not seeing it a few booze in the stadium that happens you do realize that this happened in 2015 and 2020 the Cowboys haven't been on a multi year or two or three-year bad run in a very long time we're a little actually spoiled I know we're not going where we want the playoffs there are other teams that are losing all the time and have a spotty here and there winning team we just got through winning 36 games two division titles three straight playoff appearances I didn't realize that's what Jerry's still smoking that's the fumes he's smelling the only way this gonna change is the players say things need to be changed....

They have Jerry's ear and like I said the worst thing that happened if you don't like Michael Parsons being that guy being fiery just smoking mad like Dez like Terrell Owens they always called him team obliterator but you know what most of the time he was right just like CD lamb pouting on the sideline or seemingly having some passion we're missing that all over this team so the only way Jerry's gonna hear it is through the star players the star players must not have a private meeting they need to all get together and all at once tell the media and then when Jerry goes and complaints they can go ahead and tell him how they really feel that Mike McCarthy is a monkey I'm sorry his play calling and his offense is so bad I mean I've never seen a coach in the NFL eight or nine straight weeks not changing anything to help this team but yesterday with your backups everybody's thinking you know we know there's gonna be a drop off from Prescott being gone but instead it looked like a bunch of high school play calls it was horrible I mean it couldn't look worse and then Jerry comes out and says it's not even on the back of his mind that Mike McCarthy is gonna be changed in any way shape or form and you know what that's all I need to hear to want to hope that a whole lot more than what we are hearing is going on behind closed doors and before Wednesday maybe Jerry will change his mind..

At the very least why don't they just demote Mike McCarthy from his play calling I don't care if schottenheimer in your mind it's worse I don't think I've seen worse this is going back to the Dave campo years to see something so inept and then not try to do anything about it I mean how could you have two yards per pass I mean that's insane you know what tells me they dumb down the whole office and they basically took the L on purpose no creativity isn't when the chips are down when you're supposed to just open it wide open like throw bombs just go do something different because you have nothing to lose instead they play scared to make a mistake they just want to keep it as simple as possible but and hope for the best but that first half when our defense came out and showed that they were gonna actually compete that day and our office did nothing to help them out they should have been more aggressive I've never seen so many passes below 5 yards I mean they would literally just dumping it off left and right...

I'm angry I haven't been this angry in a long time that our own front office doesn't see the need to at least demote Mike McCarthy just take the play Call of Duty away from him and put schottenheimer on notice that we wanna see better we realize we're short handed now but when we have a full compliment on offense it looks like this anyway... It looked like this last year the first eight games and we thought it was just because it was a new offense being installed blah blah blah no it turns out Mike McCarthy is a joke he should not be calling place you don't wanna fire the man demote him

As good as he is as a player and a talent, I take massive issue with what he said yesterday post game. I understand that a lot of us have issues with Mike McCarthy. I understand that he's a walking sack after this season. Frankly, I think McCarthy can't wait to leave Dallas, and, with the way Micah buried him, I can't blame him. I dread when we have to next play against McCarthy because he's going to remember what Parsons said. Additionally, what Parsons said is incredibly toxic and can destroy a locker room. It's one thing to say it behind closed doors, but to say it to the media, absolutely ridiculous and shows the toxicity of the locker room. If anyone knows what a coach's day is like, McCarthy probably does put in a massive amount of work, and what more is he supposed to do with how bad this roster was constructed? The person most at fault for this roster is Jerry. If Micah wants someone to blame besides himself, that's where it should be. However, he never would say that.

To me, we must trade Parsons after the season. We can probably get multiple high picks including a first and maybe an extra first plus more picks. We need to start cleaning house.

Or, if we don't trade him, I hope we get a coach that never lets him get away with a statement like that to the media. I hope McCarthy reams him on Wednesday in practice for it and tells him if he has a problem, bring it to him directly.
Defense wins championships. Until the Super Bowl and Conference title games were done, Schramm, Tom, and Gil did not let go thier Cocaine Cowboys on defense.

Parsons has the same problem Dak has...they and the parents that raised them grew up Cowboy fans under Landry and Jimmy. They are know jaded by what Jerry Dumbo GM Jones has transformed the Cowboys into the Jonesboys.

You do not trade a All NFL Defensive player that has only been in the league 4 years, and plays at the physical gifts he has been given and developed. You trade a over hype vision blind RB for 5 players and 6 draft picks.

You trade CeeDee Lamb. WRs are easier to replace. Have you ever replaced Randy White at DT? I rest my case.

What? Trade the next coming of Lawrence Taylor? Who can say anything he wants, because he is a "generational talent" (whatever that is)?

He has become a locker room cancer, as many predicted long ago...a toxic trait some mistake for "passion" or "fire." Not worth the trouble. Best to get whatever you can for him.
