Nick Fairley seems to be on the outs in Detroit and is in a contract year, they dont have a quality CB (Rasheen Mathis). Who would make a claiborne for Fairley trade? It seems pretty doable. Fairley had a nice year last year - plays with attitude and fills the need for the 1 tech.

Yeah, I know I hate these threads too

I might give them a mid round draft pick, or trade them Carter, but no... I wouldn't trade them Claiborne given how ligth we are in the secondary already.

Fairley is a beast. I don't follow Detroit, but I know the guy is a stud.

Its a hypothetical. Assuming Detroit would do it, who would and wouldnt support it.

i always thought hypothetical was in the realm of possiblity, im goign to say Detriot wants something in the trade. Anything, cleats at this point would be worth more.

Let me make sure im clear for everyone. I suspect another team could get more out of our own players, im just saying Dallas probably screwd Mo so bad, no other team wants to put the effort into it.

I would rather just build thru the draft.... This season could be a tough one to get thru but in the end results could be a top 5 pick and that would do a lot to improve this team.....just think if Khalil Mack was a Cowboy.....

From what I've read, the reason Detroit is frustrated is because he showed up overweight and out of shape. Plus, since he's in a contract year, isn't it a rule that we would have to give him a new deal? I think he's a good player, but I'm not sure if trading for him would be a good idea.

If we could just get our defense to be ranked between 20-25 I think that would be enough for us to have a chance this year.

If we could somehow add a quality pass rusher for a mid round pick I'd do it.

Unless the deal for Fairley is good. Like the post up thread said build through the draft.
Then spend our extra cap space next year and after on our on guys.

Agreed. This year is likely a rebuilding year so I'd rather fly with what we have and see who we can develop this year (Bishop/Coleman/etc.). Then, next year we will have another first round pick and some money to spend in free agency so we can take who develops this year and add it to some quality DL next year and we should be good to go.

If we could add Fairley without giving up Claiborne I'd be all for it because he's still young and a guy we can build with. I'm always for adding young, talented guys... but we'd be giving one up in Mo, so stand pat IMO.

I think Mo is going to have his best year by far anyway.

1. Our offense is not in rebuild mode. We've got a huge investment there and some guys closing in on their final years. We are all in on O.

2. If the D can be 22nd overall or better, the O can carry us.

3. Totally agree on Mo.

4. We aren't getting Fairley.
