This is not shot at anyone in particular....but anyone that would not trade Mo Claiborne for Nick Fairley should NEVER complain about how Jerry Jones builds a football team. Let me drop this nugget. He is FINALLY doing what he NEEDS to do with the OL. Notice I did NOT say "he has finally figured it out".....because he is been doing this long enough to know what he has NEEDED to do. He is just finally making the commitment. And he will have to address the DL next in the same fashion he has addressed the OL. As I stated in another thread....with teams abilities to create mismatches by moving guys around....and 4 and 5 wide formations....a "blue chip" CB can be schemed around by the offense. And Mo has not shown to be a "blue chip" CB. But what will NEVER go out of style.....no matter how much the game changes.....is a "blue chip" rushman....be it from the DE, LB, or DT position. So IMHO.....you take a "blue chip" rushman over a "blue chip" CB.....ALL DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

It'd be just a bit premature to divest ourselves of Mo right now when he's seemingly on the verge of redeeming himself.

It was exactly this kind of thought that made Jerry Jones hang onto Martellus Bennett when he could have easily moved him.

I dont know about this trade, probably wouldnt do it, but in general i take a hole in the secondary over a hole on the line any day.

I was shocked when I saw how fat Fairley looked in the preseason game I saw. I heard he lost a lot ow weight but when I saw him he had a huge gut. Fairley has pretty much underperformed and he has Suh and Ansah on the line so it's not like he saw a lot of double teams. I think Fairley's weight will balloon soon and his production will plummet. I'd much rather have Claiborne.

Mo has been playing well so far in camp and showing some aggressiveness...I think he makes a turn for the positive this season.....and no, I don't give up a corner with ability for a 1Tech

Rather send one of either Bernadeau/Parnell/Leary and a mid to late round pick to Tampa who has BIG problems on the Oline for either Clayborn or Bowers

this.

while we pick up cb's like shriners pick up hookers, we're still not "solid" in the backfield and to *think* we've plugged one hole while *knowing* we created another just isn't smart.

it's "i hate clairborne lets get rid of him" to me.

If they want him for free, they can have that bum.

sigh, when a parakeet screams....

free has been dominate so far in camp and not as easy to replace as many people think. he just got the punching bag target put on him and some people just can't let it go. we've finally developed a talented, if not all pro in *ever single mother ***** position" OL and people wanna go jack with it out of historical hate.

I think any talk of trades needs to consider any positions where we have a strength that we might be able to get by without. Cb just doesn't seem to be spot where we have excess bodies.

Our biggest trade bait just might be DeMarco Murray....yes he might be primed for a huge year but given his injury history, this team's lack of commitment to the running game and the fact he will be a free agent next year and most people think we won't have the $$$ to resign him it makes sense. If our OL is as good as many think, our running game will be fine with a committee of Dunbar, Randle and Williams.

We probably have some ammo at OG....we probably have 4 starters there with Martin, Leary, Bernadeau and Nwari. With Wetzel coming on at T could possibly get something for Parnell...maybe a late rd pick.

We have a couple WRs that can play in the league but I can't imagine anyone trading for one. Of course, there is always Dez..I wouldn't do it but it is the one other premium player we have that brings huge trade value and our offense might be able to overcome the loss of. Even without Dez our WR corps is probably better than what Brady is working with. In theory we have a better OL and better running back group so we should be able to still have a fairly potent offense. Dez for Suh????

Lastly the other guy that we could get something for is Witten. I know, he is the one guy that should finish as a Cowboy but if you want to add a player worth anything on defense and we really have never found an effective combo of two TE's.

Outside of those guys I don't see anyone that would get us anything to improve the defense.

Nick Fairley seems to be on the outs in Detroit and is in a contract year, they dont have a quality CB (Rasheen Mathis). Who would make a claiborne for Fairley trade? It seems pretty doable. Fairley had a nice year last year - plays with attitude and fills the need for the 1 tech.

Yeah, I know I hate these threads too

Yea I'll send them Claiborne for Fairly and grab Kellen Moore too.

It remains to be seen if there's truly a valid comparison between Marty B and Claiborne. I'm sure Claiborne's character is much more in line with what this team might want. Whether or not his body will cooperate with his mind is entirely another matter, imo.

I think Det would be interested although I don't think they'd eventually do it. Fairley doesn't like them and vice versa.

What would be the real benefit of bringing in a guy with a known problem of excessive weight and bringing 100% on every play. Count me in the group of no thanks.

I don't want anything to do with Fairley.

All the red flags on him coming out have proven to be true. He is fat and lazy and takes a significant amount of plays off. He has the physical ability and flashes though, so someone is going to open the bank. He will get paid and disappear.

A veteran for veteran is generally a better trade than trading away draft picks for a veteran that will require a new contract.

I don't following Fairley too closely, but it seems that he's been a better player than Claiborne; although, Claiborne is not as bad as most people believe. I player can be asset despite not living up to his draft position.

Fairley was arrested for DUI in 2012 and then failed to show for a court appearance. It's probably not good PR to sign another DT with problems drinking and driving after the Josh Brent fiasco and Ratliff get arrested to the DUI shorty after Brent's fiasco.

Fairly is a free agent after 2014 and Claiborne is not a free agent until after 2015. Fairly would have to be a significantly better player to give up the extra year that Claiborne has on his rookie contract.

Any moves the Cowboys makes should be focused on the long term (2015) and not on 2014. The probability of winning in 2014 is not that high with or without 1 new player.

Summary: I probably wouldn't do it based on Fairly's issues. You would need to re-sign him to make it worth it and he seems like a high risk guy in terms of paying him big money.

Applause to the "you don't strengthen one position at the expense of weakening another" crowd.

Some people get it. Some don't.

We weren't discussing that but it does come with the territory. I'd have to ask around and interview the guy extensively. I'd probably do some testing as well. I'm not a big fan but he can play if motivated and in shape.

Understand your point but the guy is playing on the second string for a reason. Mo has some of the same intangibles as fairly but if it were up to me I would rather see them keep Mo at this point.

Oh, I was just talking about the guy. There are several reasons not to entertain this guy being on this team now. We need Mo.
