Im really not a big fan of this guy but when he is motivated he is a solid player.

I don't want him but I am just speculating that Dallas may be looking at trading for Sean Rogers.

We need a Nose Tackle and guys like that are tough to find.

Cleveland also supposedly wants to get rid of him and we loooove doing business with the Browns.

I hope we don't make this move but we are getting desperate for a NT.

If you can somehow motivate him and get him in shape than you have a top NT.

I can't see it happening. They're going to want to much in trade for him and then you've got to take on his enormous contract they just gave him.

Thing that gets me about Rogers is he can be a dominating player at times but this is the NFL and you can't be taking plays off and you have to keep yourself in shape.

He did have a better year last year than I had thought. He had like 74 tackles and I believe 4.5 sacks. But from what I understand he's angry at the Cleveland managment cause he was told by them that he was to show up in shape for the camps, or whatever it is that's coming up, or not to bother showing up.

He's pissed that they aren't interested in him showing up out of shape. Well boo hoo.

Exactly and if Dallas demands at least 1 thing out of our group of players its that they be in shape.

Ever since Parcells took over that hasn't been much of an issue around Valley Ranch.

I've heard different reasons.

More that he felt snubbed by Mangini on more than one occasion.

That said, I can't envision a plausibile trade scenario involving the Cowboys and I think he stays in Cleveland.

Oh yeah, that would be great, lets see....Roy Williams, John Kitna, Shaun Rogers......Hey with any luck, and a few more lions players we could be 0-16 with the first overall pick.

Browns' recently acquired defensive tackle gets 6-year deal

The Cleveland Browns moved quickly to acquire former Detroit Lions defensive tackle Shaun Rogers after a trade with the Bengals was nixed, and moved just as fast in securing him to a long-term contract.

Shaun Rogers

Rogers

Rogers and the Browns agreed to a six-year, $42 million deal on Wednesday, a restructuring that will keep him in Cleveland until 2013. With his existing contract scheduled to expire in 2010, three years and a guaranteed $20 million were added to make the deal work.

Under terms of the new contract, Rogers will make $23 million over the first three years.

The Browns acquired Rogers on Saturday in exchange for a third-round draft choice and cornerback Leigh Bodden. When the league nixed a proposed trade that would have sent Rogers to Cincinnati for third- and fourth-round draft picks, the Lions quickly recovered and moved him to the Browns, who had just traded for Packers defensive tackle Corey Williams.

The deal for Rogers completes a $113 million flurry of contracts negotiated by his agent, Kennard McGuire. Before the start of free agency last week, McGuire worked to have wide receiver Andre Davis re-sign with the Texans for four years and $16 million, $8 million of which is guaranteed. On Tuesday, McGuire negotiated Javon Walker's $55 million, six-year agreement ($16 million guaranteed) with the Raiders.

Trust me the fact that we are acquiring Ex-Lions doesn't thrill me.

Roy Williams was a good move but Kitna is just not a guy I want on my team because if I had to pick the face of losing at the QB position over the last 8 or so years it would be Kitna.

He's a solid player but just doesn't give the kind of winners vibe that I would like to set for this team.

When I think of Kitna I think of a perenial top 3 draft choice for your franchise.

How are we desperate for a NT when the guy we have is a young probowler who is locked up for years?

Because there has been rumblings that Dallas may move him to end, which Ratliff has not been ecstatic about, since they lost Canty.

Where did you read/hear this?

Rogers was their ONLY good defensive player this year. They got him for peanuts last season. He lead their team in sacks for krissakes. WHY would they want to get rid of him?

And he was a top NT last season. The dude was a monster last year.

C'mon David, you know the answer to this. You don't need people to spell it out for you.

Or are you trying to bait someone into saying something? ;)

True, you don't want another Willie Blade. But sometimes it's not that the player is 'out of shape', it's that a new coaching staff comes in and they want to see the player come in at a significantly lower weight than they are used to playing. They may want Rogers in at 315 pounds. If I'm Rogers, I'd be a bit concerned because not only is that tough to get down to, but I would be worried that it would hurt my effectiveness as a player since he's been pretty darn effective playing at the weight he's played at for years.

A similar thing happened in Atlanta when they hired Alex Gibbs as their O-Line coach years ago. Gibbs wants very light O-Linemen and it wasn't that many of the O-Linemen didn't think Gibbs was a bad coach or had a bad philosophy, but it may not work for them. Imagine Gibbs taking over the Dallas O-Line and telling Flozell and Bigg Davis that they need to show up at 310 pounds or they'll be fined.

Surely, I don't know the full situation over in Cleveland, but 'showing up in shape' isn't always what it's cracked up to be by the coaching staff.

Signing him to an extention worth 42 million with 20 guarunteed doesn't really remind me of peanuts, unless you're eating some sort of extremely rare, and exotic ones.

We should just run a 4-3.
Ratt would be happy and move ware back to DE. We have the players to do it.

Ducking...
