Watching Julius Jones run directly into the back of our offensive line players was a sight to behold...

I still never got over that Jackson mistake. Parcells fault. Got the perfect need sitting there and you take a stupid gamble to trade down.
He was pretty much the only offense the Rams had for a good 7-8 years. Romo having Jackson earlier in his career would have helped his development rather than us having to watch him mature while throwing as much as Peyton Manning and Drew Brees.

Would he have been overruled if they didn't think there was a chance they could get both players?
The story I've always heard was that they went Ware because they knew he'd be gone if they waited, but there was a chance they could get both if they took him first.
Yes they knew that Ware would be gone if they waited, the thinking was that Spears would be gone as well but there was a chance he would still be there, much more so than Ware. They obviously made the right choice.

Having the pick that was used on Spears resulted in Demarcus Ware.

If we only had the one 1st rounder, we would have just got Spears.
How? The early pick was ours, we picked Ware, the Bills pick was used on Spears.

If Jerry Jones had hoped to be known as a great judge of football talent he forever killed that hope on April 24, 2004, in New York City.

The Cowboys held the 22nd pick in the opening round of the 2004 NFL Draft held at Madison Square Garden. Apparently dissatisfied with what he saw, Jones traded the pick to Buffalo.

In return, Dallas got the Bills' second-round pick (43rd overall), their fifth-rounder (114th), and the Bills' first-round pick in 2005 (20th).

That 2005 pick would become defensive end Marcus Spears.

As it turned out, he was the best player Dallas got out of the deal.

Damn....Jerry is the only guy to pick the wrong player in the draft. I wonder if they'll write a story about what he had for lunch that day? We already know what he was drinking. Lol
Jerry is all show....if he's in charge of the draft, he must have orchestrated the Walker trade and picks.

If you think about it though, if the Cowboys only had one first round pick in 2005, maybe Parcells convinces Jerry to draft Spears over Ware. Can't prove that, but it's a possibility considering Parcells was revamping the defense to 3-4.

What a great post. So true. Wow, Romo and Jackson.

A good reminder things can always get worse. And likely will.

but did we really pass on Aaron Rodgers?
so do you pick rodgers or ware?
I would take rodgers, cowboys needed a qb more back then.

Parcells wanted Spears. Supposedly, they figured they could get both Ware and Spears, but only if they took Ware first as he wouldn't last until 20, whereas Spears might.
Ah, ok. Man, Parcells wanted Spears over ARod (before anyone knew what Romo was, when we had the statue Bledsoe), he also picked Carpenter…..dude wasnt the best drafter…..
