A quick Google would’ve given you the date of training camp. It was about four days into camp last summer before they put the pads on. It was pretty much just walk-throughs. Training camp has changed a lot from years ago.

,Not just walkthroughs, they got to get their rooms settled in. they have to do their check-ins with stuff like doing physicals, signing paperwork ,and all that other stuff

so yeah it takes a little while before they decide to put pads on

I thought they'd have a countdown clock by now. But they're getting sleepy in their old age:)

10 days.
My guestimation: the Cowboys and Tony Pollard work out a deal for 3 seasons:
a) A 2- year salary guaranteed;
b) production incentives in place to ehanance his pay over the course of those 1st two seasons.

Doing a 180° from my previous post 24 hours ago.
My sense is that the Cowboys' offer(s) to Tony Pollard over the next nine days will not be satisfactory to him (and his agent).
Expecting him to "bet on himself" ala Dalton Schultz did at this time last year.

TC now makes Wade's Camp Cupcake look more like a US Navy Seals boot camp. And don't get me started on the PS games.

Oy vey....

Yeah, Wade’s camp cupcakes don’t look so soft these days. It’s all about trying to preserve players now. The added regular season game has made teams even more cautious. Eventually we’ll get to the point where starters won’t even get a single snap in preseason. They’ll eventually add another regular season game and reduce preseason even more. Back in the day training camps were brutal! Two a days and they tackled.

So. No joint practices or scrimmage with another team?
I believe those will happen during preseason, when the visiting team for the upcoming game arrives during the week before to have those practices or scrimmages with the home team.
Jaguars @ Cowboys Aug 12th
Cowboys @ Seahawks Aug 19th
Raiders @ Cowboys Aug 26th

I don't think McCarthy has any joint practices scheduled. He never had any in his time in Green Bay.

The Patriots will be in Green Bay for 2 joint practices on August 16th and August 17th. Leading up to the August 19th preseason game.

The Packers will also have one joint practice with the Bengals before the August 11th preseason game in Cinci.

Joint practices are crucial and even more important than preseason games, because it's 1s vs. 1s for the whole practice. You don't get much if any 1s vs. 1s in preseason games.

I think all teams should take advantage of joint practices. It's also great for the fans that attend camp. Those are by far the best practices of camp. These joint practices are your best view of where the team is at going into the season.
