Fred looked good and I am excited too, but let's see how he does when the games count.

I haven't had a chance to watch the game yet, but this is a bit surprising. A lot of what I'd seen prior to today was that he looked more physically dominant at OG than OC. Interesting take away, can't wait to watch for myself.

I haven't read that anywhere.

Not the ones I read here. I'm talking about getting that 3rd rounder along with Frederick. Yes, initially after we drafted Frederick, some were upset, but after we got TWilliams in the 3rd, people came around.

I seem to remember a handful that thought he was not a high round talent, but most criticism was due to the return on trade and thoughts that Dallas could have grabbed him in the second.

Preseason games are for evaluating individual players. The results for the teams indicate absolutely nothing. Still fun when they look good, though. :)

We've seen it go both ways with players in the pre-season though.

Look terrible and end up being good players and vice versa.

Still need to see more. Last night was a positive for him though except when he was at guard.

I don't know what game you were watching.....Leary and Frederick were serviceable. Not the all-pro you are making them out to be. I'd cut that POS Arkin. DVR'ed the game and it just amazes me the guy still gets blown off the ball 3-4 yards off the line of scrimmage.....after being in the league for 3 seasons now. He's just not NFL material.

Your exaggerating a little bit about Arkin, he wasn't that bad I think he showed he can be a serviceable backup on a few plays and he got beat on a few plays but it's only the first preseason game lets see how he does in the next few before we cut him...Leary and Fredricks were way better than "serviceable" too they were both very good.

for a 1st game I was very happy with the play of the OL even some of the backups looked pretty good out there. Still work to be done to get this group ready for regular season but for a first game I give them an A on the night.

I had no idea that Frederick majored in Computer Engineering. That right there tells me he'll be a success in this league.
To get a major in that field within 4 years and be an all-American is extremely impressive.
A center is the QB of the O-line, so I have no doubt he'll have the mental capabilities, and he appears to already have the physical capabilities as a rookie.

He looked good. I wouldn't be shocked if he is our best olineman week one.

If Jerry wouldnt have pushed for Garrett to let go of play calling he wouldnt have And would've gotten fired with more results that Garrett was getting

This is bull ...... Jerry is the one who was pushing his HC to call the plays.

Players im sure get irritated at fans that say something like this. Everytime they suit up its a real game. I think this is the difference between a athlete and a non athlete. The way of thinking.

And no majority of fans were not happy about this pick. The majority were furious because they felt Dallas couldve gotten him later. Which is ridiculous to think given how teams were putting priority on OL. Fans especially on this board were on the "OMG we're doomed" attitude in the chatroom. With the Gavin Escobar pick too.

I just wish things got evaluated on what actually happened instead of what people freak out about. We were never going to take Floyd; we were going to take Williams. When Williams got picked then we went with Fredericks. I think he will be excellent and I get less wrapped up in value then a lot of people.

But lets be clear. Things didn't go to plan when Jerry made the trade hoping that with Floyd on the board that Williams would slide to us. I'm just glad that things seem to be working out for us.

For what it was (a preseason game) I thought the O-Line played pretty good.

To be fair, you have no idea if any of this is accurate.

And I'm not convinced the problem has been play calling. The problem has been turnovers.

That, .. falling behind early, and the inability to run the ball when we need to, (3rd and short, 4th and goal) which makes Romo have to throw 35-40 times a game and score over 27 pts to win.

If we can run the ball when it is tough to run the ball, and hold other teams to 17 pts, Romo would be effective enough.

Where did you get Williams? Sylvester Williams was rated 33rd on their board. Frederick was 22. Floyd, Werner, Eifert, Pugh, Frederick, and Reid were the top guys left on the board when they traded down. Along with Rhodes, Patterson, Hopkins, T Williams, and Escobar which were lesser needs.

He double majored in Computer Engineering and Computer Science. Also, U of Wisconsin has a pretty intensive computer science and engineering department from what I've heard. Definitely more impressive than these guys who drop out with a 1.0 GPA after 3 years of majoring in social studies or health fitness.

Sigworthy.

Lol at taking one line out of my post...context is generally important bud ;)

Combine his work ethic, mental abilities, and physical attributes that he has, then it's usually a recipe for success.

Tell me how many engineering double majors are all-American football players. I bet there hasn't been more than a handful in the past decade.

I can't imagine what he can accomplish focusing all his time on his game.
