Travis Frederick having shoulder evaluated

Todd Archer
According to a source, coincidently (during prime ticket selling season) the Cowboys don't believe Travis Frederick's issue with stingers is too serious, but the trip to see specialist Dr. Robert Watkins is more about precaution than anything else. Please refer all questions on this and any other player injury directly to Dr. Jerry Jones, Team physician, GM and Owner. http://www.espn.com/espn/now?nowId=21-41027851-4 …

Is this somewhat encouraging, or a nothing burger? Says it's been a recurring hindrance, missed two practices. Maybe staff just being preemptive?

That’s what I’m hoping, just being cautious. Plenty of time left until the regular season starts. I’d rather have him miss practices than regular season games although neither is ideal.

He's a veteran, enough of this preseason nonsense. Let him practice no contact, no games until the opener. Is there something we need to know about him that we don't already? While we are at it....Lee too....and the first quarter of preseason game #3 should be plenty for Zeke.

Jupiter's balls, I hate preseason injuries. It's almost like they become contagious....epidemic. Excitement and hope turn into disappointment and resignation that it's just another one of those seasons where the rest of the NFL have a feeding frenzy at the expense of Cowboy fans.

I'm hoping that 8 drafts of "the right kind of guys" has built some respectable depth in each squad. That would alleviate an injury to a particular squad. However, when there are multiple injuries to a squad I can't help feeling as though the Big Guy decided to toy with us a little.....like he did in 2010.

Quick, someone get T-rex Costa on the phone............Garret loved that guy.

It's very rare from what I read to have surgery for stingers so that's good hopefully.

They can be quite temporary. Sometimes no big deal. Repeated stingers are another matter.

Multiple stingers cause long-lasting (permanent) nerve damage and weakness.

Modern medicine usually can’t typically address nerves, unless there is something going on with neck or spine that can be treated.

For once, I'm not concerned about the O-line.

Based on passed injuries I'm not going to buy into what the coaching staff believes the diagnoses is. I remember times where Romo had a "Stinger" in his back according to JG and then the next day you find our he's going on IR or missing 8 games. Same with Dez and his foot a few years ago. Coaching staff says it's nothing serious and will miss a game or two. Ended up missing like 6 or so. I really hope this shoulder "stinger" doesn't turn out those

Good first post. Welcome to the board....or should I say hell.

No, I was probably leaving Looney at C and Collins not starting. I don't trust Collins yet but him being between Tyron and Frederick made it Ok.
I would DEFINITELY start Collins over Williams. Are you serious?

No, what's the etiology for the stingers? Without knowing that you can't treat except to rest.

I edited it. Like I said, I always associated etiology with grammar. But that's a link discussing the pathophysiology of stingers.

Well quit making your Center do one on ones you Bozo coach!!! When the hell is the Center ever in a one on one really?! Travis said it himself in an interview recently.
