Dak isn't likely to be sent packing. He'll probably be kept in tow, as long as his contract is what it is. Jerry isn't happy, evidently, with Rush's wants.
Regardless if they keep Dak or Trance Rush is still needed. If Dak decides to walk and they role the dice with Trance, they will need a legit back up. If they extend Dak, that means that they don't few Trance as a future starter and Rush will be needed to back up Dak.

Cooper Rush is in the final year of his contract. It’s not guaranteed. He’s a free agent in March. How is he “due to be given another contract for a healthy raise”?
He is not due anything. He will be unemployed.

Are you serious? You don't know how to look up his rookie contract.
You seem to be in the know, so it's likely not worth my time to pursue it. He'll either sign with Dallas after preseason or he won't. I have other things to do besides arguing with you. All this will be decided in due time and surely not today or anytime too soon. I can wait if you can.

What is your version of what will happen, then, if he's in such a good position to make demands? How much is his current contract for?
Trance has zero position.

CONTRACT NOTES
  • Fully guaranteed
  • 5th-year option available
  • Training Camp Roster Bonuses (guaranteed)
You can't renegotiate a rookie contract.

Looks like we'll talk again once TC and preseason commences. I'm in no particular rush -- no pun intended. We'll know more by then.

We have a quality QB in Lance.

3rd overall pick in the 2021 draft.

Took the QB1 job from JimmyG.

We do not have a playoff winning QB1 with Dak.

And he is too expensive.

If Dak gets another contract, Jerry will have spent nearly Half a Billion on Dak.

Insane.

Or pay the Kid. He’s cheap and talented.
i think the point some are trying to make is this..the GM has painted himself in a corner, you could play Lance..Im all for it, if he is good guess what..you have to pay him because he is also a FA next off Season..there is no cheap rookie QB deal here, if as you say Trey can play like the 3rd pick in the draft your going to be in the same QB mess your in now with Dak...if Trey goes 12-5 with a early playoff exit and puts up numbers anywhere close to Dak he will be asking for the brinks truck in FA as he should...

We have an inexperience running back trying to learn how to be a QB.

Traded for a 4th.

Was given(handed) the starting job due to draft status and the fact he was not going to get better sitting.

Lost backup job to Sam Darnold.

Has approximately 400 completions in his entire life.

Kid is cheap for a reason. He floor is in the basement.

Rush is cheaper and way more experienced the Trance.
Jerry has been listening to Rush's player agent lately and the word is out that he's quite unhappy with those demands. Hence, Jerry is making noise like he expects something promising from Lance, whether it's actually practical or not. That's just the way he rolls. No question but what you're right about the difference in experience, though. There are times when Jerry and Stephen both live in a make-believe world, however -- not a good thing.
