Trey Lance: Bad trades for SF and Dallas?

The chance of fourth rounder being a starter is around 20%. So in the grand scheme of things, taking a fourth round flyer on an overpaid-for first rounder, actually graded high second rounder, is low risk, high reward.

Lance and Mingo. Both examples of Cowboys not understanding the market and what the true price is to acquire these players. Both were about to be cut.

Trey and Tony are the closest QB's we've had to Troy since he retired. The are both 1 letter off, lol

The 49ers traded three 1st round picks (2021, 2022, 2023) so they could draft Trey Lance. Lucky for them, they would find Brock Purdy. The 49ers SB window has probably closed. Those three draft picks sure could have helped the 49ers replace players that are now over 30 years old.

Fast forward to the 49ers realizing that Trey Lance is not a starter in the NFL. They cut bait by finding a trade partner that would take a flier on a player that, in fact, is basically the definition of mediocre. So instead of keeping our 4th round pick to shore up a badly needed position on the team, we traded for a player that has done little more that keep the bottom of the bench warm during games. Did JJ stop and think why SF was letting go a player they invested so much draft capital into?

JJ swung and missed. Time to cut bait and get what we can for Trey Lance (if anything)?
We cant get anything for him since he is a FA. He will probably be out of the league next year

But the problem here is that 4th rounders start in other positions, some that we need badly. Was Lance ever really going to play here over the $60 million man?

Both had 2nd round grades. Cowboys got them for a 4th. On paper seems like a good deal.

I wish the Cowboys had more time with Lance. Mingo should be in a much better position to contribute next year.

The real travesty here is I have yet to hear a reporter challenge Jerry on wasting a 4th round pick on a guy that you have no intention of using. In a lost season (sorry sports fans, it's over) they're not even sticking him out there. It was mind numbingly stupid

Trey Lance should have stayed in college. Tough to do when you are going to be drafted in the first round, though. I still think he got bad advice.

Mingo is not that good if he can't contribute anything on the Panthers. We could sure use that 4th rounder in April. We need all the picks we can get.

We’ll agree to disagree. Both will be out of the league in 3 years. Their draft grades and where they were drafted is irrelevant. How many players with 2nd round grades have been bust. Too many to count!

Both extreme overpays. Doubt any other team in NFL would be so foolish.

Another stupid mistake by Jerry. Thinks if he hides him he can keep him.
when he should be playing him to get a better comp pick. And yes Trey haters that is what would have happened.
idiots…hiding from what? only thing that will get Trey on the field right now is a Cooper Rush injury.

For the Trey Haters, he’d be 2-2 as well…
