It’s as obvious as can be. This was a message to the unknowing Dak. There is no comfort for you anymore. We wouldn’t resign your BFF and now this. It’s put up or shut season.

This is an out of character move from Jerry. He does not trade draft picks for guys he has no interest in playing. It’s just not the way Jerry has ever done business.

It won’t happen fast and maybe not this year at all, but the purpose of this trade is to put pressure on Dak.

Daks contract is coming up and Jerry trades for a young, raw, 1st rounder QB and that’s supposed to be a coincidence and depth move?

Jerry could’ve signed a veteran like Wentz, Flacco, or waited until cuts, or kept Grier if he was looking for a depth move.

He didn’t even give a heads up to Dak that he was doing this knowing a splash like this will make big news and allowed Dak to be blindsided instead.

The writing is on the wall and it couldn’t be anymore clear.

This is one of those moves where we are hoping to gain a bit of leverage. We are not tied to dak if lance can perform. At worst, we could have a serviceable back up and at best he starts next year.

We will go as our O-Line goes. If our O-Line gets beat up neither will do well. Lance has played in 8 games he won’t go in unless Dak and Rush go down. Maybe if we are beating a team really bad. If we trade Rush then I might wonder. We just signed Rush for 2 years but have an out next year. Maybe it’s a plan for next year to trade Rush or if a qb gets hurt this year maybe a trade. Leaves Lance as our back up. Not sure when they are going to get Lance snaps until next preseason.

Jerry don’t trade draft picks for back up QBs.

He could’ve signed a proven vet to do that or keep Grier.

This is a wake up call to Dak. That’s why he was blindsided by it. He thought he was safe. He thought he was untouchable. He become comfortable in the mediocrity.

The objective though is to make that decision before the season is over. I don't even think Lance will be ready to even be a backup this year let alone a starter next year.

See this is why Eagles fans need to talk Eagles football and stay out of Cowboys business.

The Cowboys acquired Cassel from Buffalo on Tuesday, sending a fifth-round pick in 2017 to the Bills and getting their seventh-round pick that year.

FAIL.......

You forgot the “Tony Romo cannot return before November 22 after breaking his collarbone” part, Dak fan.

Is Dak secretly hurt already? Is that why Jerry made this move?

You just got owned.

The Eagles drafted a qb to take Hurts job. You should be worried.

Yes, it was done partly to pressure Dak and cause competition.

And that's a good thing. Even for Dak.
Its not though. IF you want to pressure Dak you go trade for Matt Stafford or someone of that caliber. I guess maybe you can argue this is to put pressure on Cooper Rush? But even that's a stretch. There is zero chance Trey Lance is starting next year. I don't know if you guys don't realize how bad things are for him right now or what but the 49ers just chose Sam Darnold and Brock Purdy over a guy they just traded multiple 1st rounders for. Brandon Allen was in front of him on the depth chart.

This move has nothing to do with this year or next year. Its not a "leverage" move lol.

JJ not telling Dak about the trade is no big deal. It’s not Daks job to know. Maybe it gives him a nudge to see a first round player brought on but I doubt it worries him much. JJ not telling MM about the trade sounds more like a shot at MM and maybe more telling for his job since he is calling the plays. Lance has 8 games under his belt. If Dak don’t take us to the playoffs does JJ let him go and start Lance. How does that help the team.

All I want is the best man under center, don't really care who it is. Whomever gives the Cowboys the best chance to win, today or tomorrow. The guy today may not be the guy tomorrow . No agenda other than the Cowboys being successful. Whatever it takes, whomever it takes.

Go Cowboys!

In a perfect world it would be Lance and his cheap salary. Unfortunately, by the time he starts if he ever does his contract will be done.......
