Trick Play

The last trick play was Romo running for 20, that took magic for that to happen :p

Trick plays stopped working when coaches started putting their best athletes on defense instead of offense.

In the 70s, linebackers were slow, plodding dudes and safeties were much the same. Guys like Cliff Harris would get absolutely torched in today's game.

The move to fast defensive players killed the wishbone, too.

They do need to run something for Dez to throw. He can flat spin a football, and he can throw it a mile. I'll bet they're saving that for a special time.

I don't see a lot of flee flickers in the league anymore. Hard to do when teams blitz or zone blitz so much. The flee flicker is best when the safeties are creeping up to defend the run, but have coverage responsibilities against a pass.

The one play I would like to see ran is some sort of reverse to Dez with him throwing the ball. He's a lefty which usually throws teams off on trick plays where the non-QB is throwing the ball. He also has a cannon for an arm.

I completely agree. I wouldnt have a problem running the reverse to Harris and letting him throw it either. Word is he has quite the rifle as well.

The reverse we love to play gets blown up every time... we should fake that lol romo to street to harris back to romo

The trick play I love is on the 3 yard line and we hand it to Murray for the TD. :) lol

the reason why I ask, is Tom Landry used to run the flee flicker and the half back pass, infact I think he has used them in superbowls. with the respect our running is getting it might be time to use one of those. hint eagles game.

half back? HALF Back?

FULL BACK! :)

Here is a play called: Brown Right X Opposite Shift, Fire Toss 38, Half-Back Lead, Full Back Pass To Y and the hike was on 2.

didn't Dan Reeves throw a half back pass in the SB vs the Colts? that play is part of our history, infact I think we threw it vs Green Bay in the Ice Bowl.

There was a trick play that Parcells ran 2-3 times and worked each time that was great. At the snap, the QB rolls right, looking down field on the right side. There was a TE on the left side lined up on the LOS. The TE blocks the DE/LB but falls down, the defender chases the QB from the weak side, the rest of the defense is flowing right, the TE gets up and runs down the left side of the field all alone. It does require the QB to throw across the field, but there was no one around the TE. The times I remember them running this, we got 2 easy TD's and the other was a huge gainer. I wish I could find a video clip of them.

Bruce Coslet ran that here when he was OC

The last real trick play I remember was Tony Romo backwards pass to Jason Witten who then passed to TO.

That was not a trick play..............That was not the design......Jason Witten just had the presence to throw the ball. Truth.

Parcells, Sparano, and Payton were good for a few per year. I don't remember Garrett ever running one, maybe Linehan has some up his sleeves.

Dallas v. Tampa Bay, 2012.

You can correct me if I'm wrong here, as I'm going purely off of my memory, but I believe we recovered a surprise onsides in last year's loss to the Bears. I think it was in the 2nd half, and had we scored on that possession it would've at least made the game interesting. But we didn't, and I think the Bears really put the game away right after they got the ball back.

The reason I remember this so well is, right after we recovered the surprise onsides I remember the camera showing D. Ware get off the bench and walk over to Garrett and praise him for the call.

I also love this trick play:

I've been waiting for the Dez pass forever! Everybody says he can throw it 60 yds! Sure would like to see it.

surprise onside kicks are for losers that have no faith in their defense and think they need the ball back immediately.

But really, you are just putting your defense in a terrible place and almost definitely giving up atleast a field goal.

You may be right. I didn't watch that game.

I'm glad I didn't.

Tell the Saints that; Super Bowl XLIV. Or the Eagles in the 2000 season opener; they beat Dallas 41-14.

ive seen the packers pull off successful ones as well. I have also seen them blow it and everyone in the room scratching their head.

The saints didn't think they were going to win without that play, and honestly, if manning didn't throw that dumb pick driving at the end of the game to win it they still would have lost.

I think you are doing a disservice to your team by pulling that bs gimmick play. believe in your team and play football straight up and beat the opposition. surprise onside kicks should be reserved for teams like the raiders who are desperate for any kind of spark.

the 2014 cowboys are better than that.
