Troy does a weekly segment on Thursday mornings on The Ticket, a Dallas sports talk radio station.

On this morning's segment they talked exclusively on the documentary. He said that he was asked to come out of retirement by SD, Miami, and Philly, but he declined.

Sure would have been hard to see him in a Beagles uniform.

Aikman had a lot of injuries in his last few seasons. Now he is saying that concussions were not a factor in his retirement but I tend to think they were bigger factor than he admits now.

By 1999 and 2000 it seemed that Aikman was being knocked out of games with "normal" type NFL hits. It was like all the concussions that he had made him more vulnerable to them. The kind of hits that a QB would usually get up from were putting him out, sometimes for multiple games. He was right to retire when he did. It would have only gotten worse.

Hearing him now saying he retired due to principle alone is interesting. I don't know quite what to make of it since his troubles with concussions were well known.

I think he's angry about what happened in Dallas and wants Jerry blamed for it, as he should, so he says he retired on principle. You are right, the concussions got more and more frequent with just regular hits. I was worried about his days after playing football.

It amazes me how mentally sharp he is today, and I think about all the concussions every time I hear him on Fox. It's like they never happened.

This is the saddest NFL moment I can ever remember. Wonder if it's dawning on Jerry in that sideline clip what he'd done to Troy?

Nope. He continued on down that path of obstruction/destruction for years and years after that. IMO he had a very negative impact on Tony's career as well. Wasted years.

He's a thief.

This may be beside this topic, but why is Aikman criticized so much as a Fox analyst? In Dallas, is it because he's so impartial and not pro-Dallas enough? In other cities, is it because he's a former Cowboy?

Both.... I did get annoyed with him bashing Romo all the time.

Because he goes so far out of his way to not be biased against the Cowboys that he's biased for the other team. We never do anything right, the refs never miss any calls, ect.

He's on the #1 team with Joe Buck. He's extremely good at what he does and widely respected.

If he people didn't enjoy his work he wouldn't be where he is. I suspect the criticism you allude to is from a few loud people.
