Troy Aikman: Age isn't an excuse for Ezekiel Elliott actions

Well I am a little.
He is spoiled by years of success and being a star athlete.
He is childish and immature.
But he goes all out on the field so
that's good.
He is what he is and isn't going to change anytime soon.
yeah that's where I'm at to be honest

seems a clown, but balls out 100% on the field and that's what I really only care about

the fact that he carries a ball and runs well with it while wearing a Cowboys logo is the only reason I give a **** about who he is anyway right?

Yep. Me, too. And he's my favorite player on the team because I just love running backs.

I love how hard he runs, and his freakish athleticism. But the spoon thing is getting old, the unnecessary leaps into the end zone, the half-shirt cheesiness, and the party-every-night lifestyle.

He's going to be rooming with Randy Gregory if he doesn't chill out.

I concur with this. I loved watching Tomlinson and Zeke is like LT only better. I don't like the antics.

Thank God there was no social media when I was growing up. I feel bad for young people today because one mistake, recorded by some idiot with nothing better to do, can kill their careers. I'm constantly reminding my kids to watch what they Tweet, what they Snap Chat, what they post on Facebook, etc. It never goes away.......

Having said that, I had my **** together fairly early on and was gainfully employed by my early 20's. These athletes need to understand that if someone is going to pay you millions or you have a shot at an NFL career, then stay out of trouble; stay out of strip joints; stay out of weed shops; stay out shady bars....especially today with social media and video recorders on every cell phone. It's not fair, but that's the society we live in today. And I don't think that's a lot to ask in return for possibly millions of dollars.

wow...this thread started as weed and now is a tree with many many topics...time for zeke to grow up and realize he is a professional athlete with many followers under the age of 21. He's been granted a special opportunity in life and Garrett and Troy are trying to get this point across. Hopefully it sinks in soon.

What would Troy know, he's only played the game at a high level, knows the players, three Superbowl rings, Ring of honor, Superbowl MVP, hall of fame....but he should shut up.....yeah OK!!
Quiet as a church mouse on Josh Brown last year when calling our game.

Don't say "weed" in a thread about Zeke. You're going to give everybody a heart attack.

Yeah but they don't get it.
Some are not too bright and some want to do what they want as they have in college.

You go to other other teams forums and they say he's a homer. I don't want a play by play person rooting for any team. That's what the pre-game shows are for.
I tend to agree, but for some reason Troy reminds me of a 50 year old that still wears his HS district championship letter jackets and secretly roots against his local team so that they don't steal his thunder. Just get that feeling.

I say until he's suspended for anything, this is just for clicks. The only thing they may have is the unbecoming conduct policy that's so subjective/vague that we could get the raw end for the TMZ topless thing (so I get the angst there too). In the end though, money talks, and the league wants Zeke on the field for the Primetime opening game against the Giants. Remember all the Dez stuff? Nothing came of that.

And was Troy asked his opinion on Brown during the game by Buck,,,NO he wasn't....was he asked about Zeke, yes he was...now why would he be asked about Zeke's off field behavior and not Josh Browns,......would it have to do with the fact Troy lives in and played for the Cowboys his whole career perhaps!!

Dont remember him being asked about Hardy when he went on a tirade during one of our games

I don't have a problem with Zeke's "antics." The short jerseys, jumping into the end zone, diving into the kettle, scoring long touchdowns -- that is all swagger. He adds personality to the team and the rest of the league is envious as hell. That's why the owners were expressing their desire for a Zeke suspension for unproven allegations. The only thing I found utterly boneheaded was pulling the woman's blouse down. What was he thinking in that moment? Other than that it seems like a witch hunt to me. Yes, he is immature, but most of the things he is accused of are either unproven or much ado about nothing. And for the league to take over a year to make this ruling? It strikes me as harassment against an individual player. It just feels personal and that isn't right.

i don't hate Aikman at all, his announcing during games is annoying

You mean how he tells it like it is and you dont like it?

You cant get any more professional and honest. Aikman loves the Cowboys, but he takes his job like a professional. He cares more about being great at his current job then a couple Cowboy homers getting offended that he didnt lie to make them feel better.

Out of curiosity, besides me, are there others of us who find Elliott and his antics annoying and who don't think he's a special ball of fun?

I like the guy myself. I think he has to start using his head off the field. As for what is taking place on the field he puts in the work and time, it shows up on game day. For his sake and the sake of the 52 other players on the team I just hope he cleans his act up. When you screw up you not only hurt yourself you hurt the other players who count on you.

I agree. The career in the NFL is short lived, as players you have x amount of time to do something special and of course make lots of money. Then it is over. I also agree the time we live in with people using smart phone to video events, 24 hour news cycle and other social media players today need to be more careful than ever. People can say how unfair that is but it is the reality in which we live and players either learn to deal with it of they can end up losing valuable time in their careers.

Agree. And when you add it all up...it's not a pretty picture.

Multiple car accidents, domestic violence case that has enough merit that it's warranted longterm investigation, pulling girl's top down, busted driving 100 mph in urban Dallas, the incident with the guy getting decked.

Maybe some of these are overblown, but comments of insiders suggest the guy has issues.
