I love it that Troy is letting some of his middle ground "fair" sports commentating approach go to let everyone know how awesome Dak is.

Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman has jokingly compared his winless rookie season with the Cowboys to what Dak Prescott is doing in 2016.

But Aikman, Fox NFL's lead analyst, is dead serious in his support — in the near-term and far into the future — for Prescott over veteran Tony Romo.

Aikman had his strongest words yet for Prescott on Wednesday on SiriusXM NFL Radio, calling him the "most impressive" young quarterback he’s ever seen.

“Even this past week when owner Jerry Jones is coming saying what a great story it would be if Tony Romo led them to the Super Bowl in the postseason,” Aikman told host Pat Kirwan. “Yet he is having to answer those questions. And he goes out there and plays brilliantly against Tampa Bay. He is unflappable. I’m impressed by him. As we know, he has a lot of good things around him. That helps. But for a young quarterback to step into this game and do the things he has been able to do, I’m impressed. I do think he is the future. I think he will be the quarterback for a long time.”

Prescott ran off 11 consecutive wins, bookended by losses to the NFC East rival Giants that led to some questions. But he responded Sunday with a record-setting performance, completing 32 of 36 passes against the Bucs, an 88.9 completion rate that's the single-game best in Cowboys history and second-best in NFL history for a QB with at least 30 passes in a game.

“I’m absolutely amazed with him,” Aikman said. “There is nothing I don’t like about him. He was regarded as a project coming out of Mississippi State as a fourth-rounder. He had never taken snaps under center. He had never run play-action. He wasn’t even expected to be the backup. He was going to be a long-term project. After a few injuries, all of sudden he steps in.”

And, Aikman noted, even as a 23-year-old rookie, Prescott had that "it" a starting quarterback needs — Aikman saw it in the first pre-production TV meeting with him.

"I never felt the presence of a young quarterback like I did with him,” Aikman said of that initial meeting. “I said this was the most impressive young player I’ve ever been around at the position. I really believed he was going to go out and play well. Before halftime of the game in his first start I was no longer looking at him and viewing him as a rookie. My analysis was along the lines of a veteran quarterback. It spoke volumes how he carried himself.”

Well if we're all going to gush over Troy's comments on Dak (deservedly so) and believe every word he says because he is a HOF QB who played the position, for the Cowboys--

Then you cannot ignore his comments (or Roger's) over the years on Tony that he absolutely has carried the team virtually his entire career and could've won Super Bowls if Jerry would've given him the necessary tools which he has repeatedly said.

Remember - he is 15-3 with this offensive line.

No cherry picking allowed.

Glad Troy said that. I think Dak deserves some praise. A 4th round pick who never lineup under center coming to the NFL to run a pro set offense and lead his team to a 12-2 mark. I expect most rookies even top pick QB to come in and struggle and have a lot of turnovers in the process but Dak has avoided those big mistakes and yet gets hammered with all this dink and dunk stuff? He is moving the offense, avoiding the big negatives and the offense if putting up points (4th over all in the league) Yeah Troy like what he is seeing from Dak.... Me too

Both parts are true. In the past, when he was younger and healthier, Romo was a great QB in a largely mismanaged organisation that carried the team and was unfairly blamed for its deficiencies (like garbage defense and garbage offensive line and running game much of the time.)

Now Dak is a great young player and Romo is an older player with a long history of serious injuries.

I like what Romo WAS. I like what Dak IS. These are different and unrelated things.

Remember back when we were debating whether or not GMs would take Prescott first overall in a re-draft? That seems like a long time ago.

Which is funny because 100% of them still would, but somehow Cowboys fans want to tear him down because he's only 12-2.

The Triplets' love fest with the New Triplets continues!

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/t...impressive-young-player-ive-ever-been-around/

"I'm absolutely amazed with him," Aikman told Sirius XM NFL Radio's Pat Kirwan on Tuesday, via the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "There is nothing I don't like about him. He was regarded as a project coming out of Mississippi State as a fourth rounder. He had never taken snaps under center. He had never run play action. He wasn't even expected to the backup. He was going to be a long-term project. After a few injuries, all of sudden he steps in."

..."He walked into that room. I never felt the presence of a young quarterback like I did with him," Aikman said of his encounter with the rookie before the Cowboys' Week 1 opener against the Giants. "I said this was the most impressive young player I've ever been around at the position. I really believed he was going to go out and play well. Before halftime of the game in his first start I was no longer looking at him and viewing him as a rookie. My analysis was along the lines of a veteran quarterback. He has 1 back injury that can be considered serious.
