I was sold after the first preseason game.

Me too. Looked over at my buddy during that game and said, "I think this kid has something.." He scoffed at me but has since had to apologize.

I remember before Pre-season I compared him to Quincy Carter. lol He started convincing me during the pre-season. I never expected it. What a draft this has turned out to be.

Before then, I just knew him as a name that some of the board members were gushing over as a quality 4th round pickup. My interest began to pique then as he was being talked about here, and was eager to see him play that firat preseason game. I don't follow the game with the same level of enthusiasm that alot of zones here do, so it was impossible for me to draw an opinion until I witnessed him in uniform. Having a military background however, I believe allows me to pick up on certain intangibles such as his leadership, presence, command of the huddle...etc...which alot of the stat nerds can't seem to comprehend.

So he didn't miss all those games? Or was he using minor injuries as an excuse to loaf?

(It's neither, he's been seriously injured multiple times. You don't miss that much time playing because of trivial boo-boos.)
He has 1 lower back injury that could be a problem and is the reason he does his core work. Collar bone breaks are not serious nor are the other 2 unrelated freak back injuries.

This post (and any like it) is why this thread got moved to the QB Zone. Why must one side of the QB debate always bring it up when on of the QB's has nice things said about him?

The article says monumentally good things about our starting QB and now it has been exiled where a ton of people will miss it. Troy saying Dak is the most impressive young player he's ever been around at the QB position is huge. Just huge. It speaks to everything that makes Prescott such a transcendent talent. What makes him better than just about every rookie QB that has come into the league.

And now, only a fraction of the fans will see it.

I understand why the board administration would want to keep another long *** QB argument thread out of the zone... but this article should have been about Dak and Dak only. It is a shame it got stuck over here.

That's an absolutely valid point and I agree.

To be honest, it was more of a tongue and cheek response (although a valid point) and I never, ever thought it would get moved.

In fact, I even had a follow-up that was fun and fluffy.

So, as a result, I feel bad the mods took it as such, it was not my intention.

Dak is extremely poised and shows a lot of intangibles. Troy is absolutely correct about that. I hope Dak fixes his mechanical flaws in the offseason and is not Alex smith his entire career.

I think there are things he needs to improve on but I also tend to think he can and will do that. For a guy who never was under center to come in day 1 and perform as he has says he learned a lot in a short period given an off season along with the mini camps, OTA and training camp I think Dak will make big strides to improve as a QB. Frankly I hope he always looks to improve himself as a player

Alex Smith hasn't had a single season as good as Dak's rookie season. And it's not particularly close, either. The comparison is deeply stupid.

Some people don't grasp this. Some people also don't realize that Manning played at a high level after fusion surgery in his neck or how serious that is compared to Romo's injuries.
They're usually the same people who were against Romo since the fumbled snap in Seattle... or they're people who have never worked to come back from an injury, physically trained before, or experienced true competition and don't really understand what it does to true athletes or how much they desire it.

When you consistently are held below 300 yards passing, throw for 0 TDs in games, and are the exact definition of game manager, you get compared to Alex Smith, the ultimate game manager. It's not a knock. It works for this team. I do worry about his ability to take over a game though.

The way he his talked about, you would think that he is constantly knocked out be concussions and acl tears.

The Giants gave the blueprint on how to break Dak Prescott. Mind, body, and soul.

I gotcha. And as much of a smart*** as I am, I probably don't have much room to complain.

It makes no sense for Dak to 'throw' for a TD when he can run it in or he can hand off to Elliott... or maybe the cowboys should repeat the Seahawks superbowl debacle?
