Seems like this board has more Dak haters then supporters. Take away the hate for a second, last year's personnel was one of the worse he has ever had:

-Gallup clearly wasn't the same player after his injury and probably shouldn't have had a big role. Tolbert gave the team nothing in his 1st season as a 3rd rd pick. Noah Brown, who has always been more of a special teamer was our #2 WR by default. A passing offense of Lamb, Brown and Shultz isn't going to be successful against any legitimate defense.

-Zeke clearly has held this team back as he isn't the same player at all. Many will say that he has hurt the team more then he has helped it not just last season but a few prior.

-Team lost Tyron for basically the regular season and had to play a green rookie at Tackle who practiced only as a Guard throughout camp. Team had to sign a 40 year Tackle for insurance. Lost their other Tackle Steele late in the season, who was the team's best run blocker. Once he went down, our run game disappeared.

-Dak was basically forced into many 3rd and longs facing teams who put extra men in coverage. Take out Lamb and let Brown or Shultz beat them. That isn't a winning formula. Yes, Dak had a career year in interceptions, where he had to force many passes into tight windows.

This year, team added a legitimate #2 WR in Cooks who has the blow off the top speed. He should open up the offense for others. Tolbert appears to have made the next step in his development, Gallup looks better, players like Vaughn/Turpin will add more juice to the offense that was lacking any playmakers outside of Lamb/Pollard.

Dak hater or not, this is the year we can get an actual true litmus test on Dak as the QB.
Cold hard facts. Great write up!

Wish I could add the hammer emoji, but for some unknown reason, my emoji privileges are suddenly no longer available. Wish I knew why?

Solid points but every QB in the league deals with this stuff every year. There’s no one out there with a perfect situation. To say we can’t really evaluate Dak until everything is perfect should maybe tell you more about Dak than you think.

I’m hoping he plays well and has a career year, but just remember when the playoffs come, you need the type of QB that can overcome difficult situations. I’m still waiting for Dak to show me he’s that guy in the playoffs. Hoping this year is the year

Dak’s been proving himself for 7 years. He has nothing to prove. He’s going to be here for a very long time. The only litmus test is whether the haters have the gonads to admit they were wrong or not. Most of them don’t have what it takes.
Wrong?
Did you watch how Prescott played against the 49ers in the play offs?
Are you Tad Prescott?

This is a great post but... some of these haters hate Dak so much that you could put toddlers at skill positions for us and they would still blame Dak for the toddlers lack of success against grown men.

Dak gets blamed for our defense committing penalties and dropping interceptions... he also gets blamed for missed fgs by kickers.

Again, great post for the intelligent and higher IQ fans on this board.

Agreed!!

Dakota Prescott has developed to above or at the Curve expected for a QB on Playoff Contending team since 2016.

If Prescott continues same trajectory and the Team improves too then it's NFC Championship or Bust.

Joe Burrows litmus test....score a TD in the 4th Qtrs of ANY playoff game :lmao:

The NFL has an Annointing Problem :muttley:

I watched how the offense struggled with no running game, only 1 WR and an OC that every defense in the league knew what was coming. That’s what I watched.

The Cowboys appear to be set with their most loaded roster of the Dak Prescott era, but one of the most common mistakes fans make throughout the NFL offseason is not accounting for regression. Young players are seen as being able to continue their upward trajectory, but rarely do expectations account for players on the other side of the curve.

That’s Dallas’ most daunting task to overcome. Is Stephon Gilmore going to be able to play like the rejuvenated 2022 version in Indy? Can Brandin Cooks crank out another 1,000-yard receiving season? How well will future Hall of Famers Tyron Smith and Zack Martin perform on the OL? Is DeMarcus Lawrence still a Pro Bowl bookend to Micah Parsons? These are all key players who probably are no longer in their primes, but if they can perform close to that ceiling, it could be a special year in Dallas. – K.D. Drummond, Cowboys Wire

Fans are going to think what they are going to think. I don't think any of that matters.

I do think there's a good chance this will be a very strong year for Dak.

Mike McCarthy is a high quality offensive coach who specializes in QBs. He's very closely observed Dak and the rest of the offense for multiple years. McCarthy knows Dak's strengths and weaknesses. And now McCarthy has built an offensive scheme specifically to the strengths of his QB.

This year, scheme-wise, Dak will play in the most "Dak friendly" offense that he's ever had. This offense was built to him and for him. And this year they have a number of highly talented skill position players.

Injuries can derail everything, of course, but if the offense is reasonably healthy, I expect good things.

I will watch and enjoy the games as they each unfold.

Remember Dak’s rookie year. When each new game became…this is his next big test, this is his true test. As he passed each one.
Only for the defense to let him down in the playoffs.

Dak passed many litmus tests as he went along. But some keep moving that test to be higher, kind of like moving the goal posts all over the place.

Just enjoy the season with a loaded roster.

Nothing left to prove? You must be kidding? He led the league in INT'S last year, even after missing 5 games. How do you define a hater? Somebody who wants Dak to succeed, but 8 years later is still waiting for him to succeed in the only way succession is measured? This team has loaded him up year after year, and in what "could" be his swan song has been gifted whiat is likely the strongest team on paper we have had while he has been QB.

You can wave your pom poms all you want, but to suggest he has nothing left to provde is just fandom. You don't have to look further than past SuperBowl champoin QB's who haven't had the team on paper we do, yet their succession was proven. Before you get your knickers in a knot, do not suggest I am a hater unless you have been a die hard for over 35 years and are content with how thie franchise has succeeded in the last 28
That's Right. He has nothing to prove especially to the likes of you. Prove something to someone who can't do what you can do. Seriously ? Get over yourself. You use fandom as if you can provide anything else.

All you are is a FAN. Just like all of us. Again GET OVER YOURSELF

Why is it that delusional fans can't just watch the games and root. If you were to delete your self. No one in the dallas organization would notice. Again GEt OVER YOUR *** SELF

I like Dak ...... and I have defended him on this board many many times from the ridiculous Dak haters like mountain and pappy.

But if he had played even an average game against the 49'rs ....... we would have won.

He has to get over that hump to be considered great ....... and not just a good regular season qb.

There are no "Haters" just real Cowboy fans who see our team being held back due to the ineptness at the QB position.
You guys throw that HATE word around like it's candy.
Is your world so full of it or is it just your imagination?
We want to WIN and not beat dog teams like the Falcons and pad-stat them to death.
WIN...........WIN...........WIN...........WIN..........WIN......And please don't bring up our leader W-L record as its mostly from the doggy NFC East he has feasted on all these years!
