Solid points but every QB in the league deals with this stuff every year. There’s no one out there with a perfect situation. To say we can’t really evaluate Dak until everything is perfect should maybe tell you more about Dak than you think.

I’m hoping he plays well and has a career year, but just remember when the playoffs come, you need the type of QB that can overcome difficult situations. I’m still waiting for Dak to show me he’s that guy in the playoffs. Hoping this year is the year
What we know is, when Dak has been surrounded with talent he has produced. I believe we are going to see that again this yr. Even getting to a Super Bowl is difficult, he’ll both Rodgers, Brees had hall of fame careers but each only got there once, a lot of good fortune has to happen along the way.

Seems like this board has more Dak haters then supporters. Take away the hate for a second, last year's personnel was one of the worse he has ever had:

-Gallup clearly wasn't the same player after his injury and probably shouldn't have had a big role. Tolbert gave the team nothing in his 1st season as a 3rd rd pick. Noah Brown, who has always been more of a special teamer was our #2 WR by default. A passing offense of Lamb, Brown and Shultz isn't going to be successful against any legitimate defense.

-Zeke clearly has held this team back as he isn't the same player at all. Many will say that he has hurt the team more then he has helped it not just last season but a few prior.

-Team lost Tyron for basically the regular season and had to play a green rookie at Tackle who practiced only as a Guard throughout camp. Team had to sign a 40 year Tackle for insurance. Lost their other Tackle Steele late in the season, who was the team's best run blocker. Once he went down, our run game disappeared.

-Dak was basically forced into many 3rd and longs facing teams who put extra men in coverage. Take out Lamb and let Brown or Shultz beat them. That isn't a winning formula. Yes, Dak had a career year in interceptions, where he had to force many passes into tight windows.

This year, team added a legitimate #2 WR in Cooks who has the blow off the top speed. He should open up the offense for others. Tolbert appears to have made the next step in his development, Gallup looks better, players like Vaughn/Turpin will add more juice to the offense that was lacking any playmakers outside of Lamb/Pollard.

Dak hater or not, this is the year we can get an actual true litmus test on Dak as the QB.
Who are the Dak haters?
I keep asking that question yet no one can come up with names and evidence.

I like Dak ...... and I have defended him on this board many many times from the ridiculous Dak haters like mountain and pappy.

But if he had played even an average game against the 49'rs ....... we would have won.

He has to get over that hump to be considered great ....... and not just a good regular season qb.
No doubt Dak had a poor game, but let’s also look at the defense he was facing, couldn’t run the football and losing Pollard on an offense that was already lacking playmakers outside of Lamb.

Okay grumpy, the title of this thread is that Dak has nothing left to prove in his NFL career so you are suggesting if he was to retire tomorrow he would have attained all he set out to do? You tell me to kadfjkd over myself, yet you scream in caps? lol. If a company hires you to take a division to $1,000,000 in sales and you fail to do this over 7 years of being there, what does this person have to prove to this company that the hire was of worth and value?

Put down your pipe and follow along this thread, and you may see the light at the end of the tunnel which leads to our QB winning a Super Bowl and proving he is worth the money being paid, and worth the money he wants to be paid down the road. If your point is that nobody should be allowed to be critical about another ones job unless they can perform it better is ridiculous, silly and on it's own merit should not allow you to post on this message board again...I am pretty sure Dak could care less about proving himself to me or you, but you can bet he has plenty of reason to prove himself to the Jones'
Sorry for the Grumpy, I'll try to say what I have to say without the grumps. OK the title is this year is a Litmus test for Dak . To me, that's BS. That's a haters view of things. First year, his next game was his "LITMUS" test. So what did he

Do? Got to the playoffs, and played pass for pass with Aaron Rogers and if it weren't for a miracle kick we may have went to the Championship Game. That's just one season He's has multiple playoff seasons since

So my question is what does he have to prove to the Non Hater ? And those who say he does have something to prove , it ain't gonna happen. He ain't gonna prove nothing to certain B's , He just ain't

And you’re too naive to understand other factors in play. Can you AT LEAST acknowledge they had only 1 NFL starting quality WR last year? Can you AT LEAST acknowledge that defenses knew what Dallas was going to run? They all said the same. No you can’t because you have an agenda and no matter how foolish you look you don’t have the intestinal fortitude to admit you were wry.

Can’t wait until the season starts so the roaches see the light and disappear.
and Rush won 4 games with the same team. Are we underestimating Cooper?

he has lots to prove...he has cost us consecutive games against the 9ers. He is paid to be "the" guy on this team and the last 2 years he hasn't lived up to it. If you are okay with 12-5 seasons and bowing out in the post season immediately then nothing is left to prove. The majority of Cowboys fans, and ownership, have put him on notice and one reason he has yet to sign his extension is this exact reason. Be rest assured that if he does not sign his extension during the season, 2024 will be his last in Dallas. ie. his litmus test

Agreed!!

Dakota Prescott has developed to above or at the Curve expected for a QB on Playoff Contending team since 2016.

If Prescott continues same trajectory and the Team improves too then it's NFC Championship or Bust.

Joe Burrows litmus test....score a TD in the 4th Qtrs of ANY playoff game :lmao:

The NFL has an Annointing Problem :muttley:
Joe Burrow...the QB who has been in the league for 3 seasons now and has a 5-2 playoff record with back-to-back AFCCG appearances and 1 Super Bowl appearance....

...that is 3 more playoff wins, 2 more Championship game appearances, and 1 Super Bowl appearance than Dak has had in 7 seasons...

You comparing Dak to Burrow is a joke.

Dak’s been proving himself for 7 years. He has nothing to prove. He’s going to be here for a very long time. The only litmus test is whether the haters have the gonads to admit they were wrong or not. Most of them don’t have what it takes.
Nothing to prove? He has yet to reach an NFCCG appearance and ZERO Super Bowl appearances....I would think he has a lot to prove, especially demanding top QB pay.

I will watch and enjoy the games as they each unfold.

Remember Dak’s rookie year. When each new game became…this is his next big test, this is his true test. As he passed each one.
Only for the defense to let him down in the playoffs.

Dak passed many litmus tests as he went along. But some keep moving that test to be higher, kind of like moving the goal posts all over the place.

Just enjoy the season with a loaded roster.
One can argue Dak let the team down given he led Dallas to only 13 points through 3 quarters and GB had a 28-13 lead at that point in part because of Dak not performing.
