I am as critical of the staff as anyone but ripping them for going for a blocked punt?

Hahahahaha. Geezus, people.
If it had been a scoop and score, they'd be pissed that it worked and cost us a draft position.....misery loves company, and there's plenty of company to go around.

Yep, and I think they will gain at least 2 spots with this loss in the end. And it is more than 2 spots. It's 2 spots in every round.

I'm not sure what the problem is. It worked. All they had to do is stay away from the ball.

And yet it “ didn’t work “ . Another ST debacle . Aubrey can hit from 60 . Turpin can break a return . But no the ST unit shoots the team in the foot , again . Like asking Brian Anger on 4th & 9 to complete a pass long enough for a 1st down

If you asked every head coach in the NFL if they rather have a blocked punt, or a normal return. You'd have 32 coaches say blocked punt.

Criticizing the blocked punt would be like criticizing the Cowboys for blocking the FG in 1993 when Leon Lett made that mistake. Why block the FG, he was going to miss anyway. It wasn't a live ball. All they had to do is stay away from it. Just like any other punt not fielded.

You’re getting the ball back at the end of the game in a tie you set up a return ( best return man since Devin Hester ) at worst you have the best FG kicker in football can drill from 60 . You stay away from the punter . Too many negatives can occur and yep the player froze and it clanked off his chest . Fumble goodbye game.

....with tied game and you have one of best kickers in NFL.

Who the hell comes up with these plays? ...lol..

They deserve to lose, all I can say.
You’ve clearly never played on special teams at any level, including Pop Warner. If a defensive dude runs at the kicker and isn’t blocked, he’s going to try and block the kick. He isn’t just going to stop running when there’s nobody in front of him. I’m not saying he did the right thing, I’m saying he did what comes naturally to a guy on defense with a clear path to the punter.

The ‘Lett it be rule’ is more appropriate than the ‘don’t block the kick’ sentiment.

They blocked the punt. It was the right call. If dude doesn't go brain dead and muff the ball, we're set up on their side of the field, in perfect position for Aubrey to tie it. The offense wasn't good in the 4th. Would you really want to rely on them to move the ball 30-40 yards to set up that kick?
