Hopefully, both parties agree on a trade and the Cowboys and it's fans get something of value that will help the Cowboys draft a 1st rd stud who is use to pressure games and will take the Cowboys a lot further than Prescot ever has. It's time to pull the plug on Prescot and part ways with him, because deep down I don't think he really wants to play for this organization anymore because he can't handle the pressure that goes along with the job here.

Exactly..............if Dak and his agent come in to Jerry's office demanding the richest contract in NFL history, then Jerry should just turn around to the TV on the wall and start playing the Green Bay game.

Dak best be given us a hometown discount ($50 a year max) after that abortion of a game.
I don't think there is a team in this league that would give Dak 50M a year except for the Cowboys. He's never been an elite QB. He'd have to go through a prove it year.

I'll go with they are going to extend Dak and gain cap space to help the team this season.
So go all in on the Dak blackmail train?
Just tell the truth you want Dak at QB for another 4 years and our cap in ruins?
We will not be held hostage by a tier 3 choking inept QB and his slick agent...Stay strong STAR and ............

If it is necessary to work out an extension with Dak it shouldn't be for more than 2 years and certainly not be elite compensation. About the only thing I agree with Jerry on is that there is room for improvement with Dak but also with you Jerry and Stephen for expecting to win in the post season when you continue to field a team with glaring holes or with players and coaches that are paper tigers.

How many more "Proven" years are they gonna give inepto?
Heck he was even saved by the Injury vs the Giants which would have dropped him to 0-5 or 1-5.
Nothing can save him now and he can point to the sky's till his hand falls off!!!!!

I'm not any type of big supporter for Dak but he did finish second in MVP voting. There'd be some team to pay him just to win some regular season games and have fans actually show up. There's a lot of teams with bad QBs right now. Really you can't say a whole lot bad about Dak in the regular season other than I wish he would have shown up against <enter great team here> on the road. It's just the playoffs he's a disaster. Some team would pay for regular season success.

Anyway I do not agree with this NFL insider I think the Cowboys absolutely will extend Dak. I would be shocked if they tried to make him prove anything, pleasantly shocked. Jerry once gave Romo who was 32 (Dak will be 31 next season) a huge contract after being exactly like Dak in the playoffs. Besides they love kicking the can down the road as far as the salary cap it's a done deal as far as I'm concerned.

I meant if he didn't play for the Cowboys. I don't think another team would dump a ton of money on him right away.

I also think he'll be getting an extension. I meant if he didn't get an extension and played out his last year. I don't think another team would give him a lot of money right away.

This will linger into the draft and he doesn't sign one before then we all sit hopelessly watching pick after pick after pick after pick...Our QB throws a pick...more picks. At some point we yurn for a QB pick to provide validation we are moving on from said QB, and no QB will get drafted. Next day, 5/290 signed. Wait for it
Mid March is the deadline.

We have to be under the cap.

We cant get under the cap with Daks contract.

That 60 million dead cap is a killer.

next add his 34 million salary.

Which is easier? Let him go and suffer the financial loss, or pay him and suffocate the roster for years to come. The fans may not like it, but I would definitely move on and take the loss. It would be better to be cash strapped without him, then to be cash strapped with him leading the team to embarrassing losses.

This was his prove it year. He proved what we all already knew. Excellent regular season qb against soft defenses. Googly eyed choker and garbage time stat padder in the playoffs.

They shouldn't extend him either. I'm pretty sure this what Jerry meant by all in. The head coach and the QB are on one year deals. If they lose, they're done.

shouldn't be for more than 2 years
This ^^^^^^ it's what I think will happen. IMO his career is taking a bit of a hit after the Packers game. No team is going to trade huge compensation AND give him $50M. This is why I see him working with the Cowboys for cap relief on a short-term extension. Gives him another year or two and if he gets NFCCG or Super Bowl, he can write his own contract.

Through their prior missteps and bad decisions, the Joneses have gotten the team neck deep with Prescott and his contract.

They’ve mortgaged the future because they always think they have a shot in the present. So they always need to do anything and everything to keep that ‘core’ together.

And Dak and his agent have used that thinking to their advantage at every opportunity. And they now have all leverage in any future negotiations. The Joneses have given away all of it.

So they currently have two options, to get even further into giving in to anything and everything Dak wants, or to get out now, play out this last year, and take the lumps they’ve already got coming.

My bet, given their track record is that they will give in completely and totally destroy this team in the faint hope of eventually stumbling into ‘being right’.

And they will ultimately have wasted another decade - like they did with Jason Garrett - refusing to change the one thing that truly might have made the difference.

Then Romo balled out in the 2014 playoffs. 2 games, 125.8 rating, 4 TDs, 0 Ints, 9.8 ypa.
He at least got over the poor playoff rut and earned his keep. Haven't seen that from 4 yet..
