Twitter: Tuesday Training Camp Practice Updates

Wish DEZ would have stayed out of it, he has already been in 1 fight, hope he does not get a suspension.

Dez will be Dez.

from the DMN Blog

At one point, Bryant lined up as if he was going to take a rep. As Johnson was still talking, Tony Romo told Bryant to go against the Rams fourth-year corner. Cowboys offensive coordinator Scott Linehan quickly stepped in and told Bryant to get out of the drill.

Bryant walked toward the back of the end zone, saying that there’d be no talking if he was out there. “They can hold me all they want,” Bryant said. “I’ll catch it any way.”

“I love Dez Bryant,” Garrett said. “Our coaches love Dez Bryant. Our players love Dez Bryant. There’s a lot to love about Dez Bryant.”

“You certainly love his passion and love how much he loves his team and his teammates,” Cowboys chief operating officer Stephen Jones said. “But I’m not supportive of anything that has to do with something that ends up in fights and scrums and those types of situations.”

I'll close with a bit of good news, which comes form the other field: Darren McFadden looked very sharp in his 11-on-11 debut, taking the majority of first-team reps, showing good quickness and flashing in the passing game.

On a day when injuries rendered the Cowboys almost unable to compete (and certainly unable to shut the Rams up simply by beating them badly, again and again), the fact that McFadden showed well is a veritable rainbow at the end of a hard rain.

"Way to show fight," defensive end Jeremy Mincey said of Garret's post practice input. "It's always good to show fight but we got to be composed in situations like that and stay away from that. Fight with the pads and focus on the game."

Darren McFadden took the first-team snaps at tailback for the first time but made his mark for the second team in red zone work with a draw up the middle in which he burst through the Rams defense for a touchdown of about 15 yards. In two-minute work, McFadden replaced Joseph Randle and took a check down from Tony Romo to the St. Louis 1 before the fights began.

Tony Romo finished 10-of-12 in team and 7-on-7 drills against the Rams. His best throw came on a deep post to Terrance Williams, who ran by cornerback Imoan Claiborne, beating the St. Louis blitz.

While the Rams canceled the end of their practice after the fights, the Cowboys worked against each other in a two-minute drill. Because the Cowboys were in white jerseys, the defense had to put on yellow pennies. Safety J.J. Wilcox broke up a Romo pass in the end zone to close practice. He remained down for a little bit because of a cramp.

Claiborne got a punch in on Dez Bryant during the fight, but he must have been upset from a bad day. In one-on-one work, Devin Street beat him for a score with a nifty fake slant to the corner route. After making the catch, Street dropped the ball on a prone Claiborne.

Romo connected with Williams on a touchdown in which the receiver made a difficult grab in traffic in red zone drills but if it had been a game Rams defensive end Robert Quinn would have had a sack after blowing by Darrion Weems.

Dan Bailey went 5-of-6 on field goal attempts with makes from 38, 41, 44, 49 and 54 yards. He was wide right from 51 yards. Unofficially Bailey is now 50-of-54 in camp.

Cornerback Orlando Scandrick (knee) was back in pads on Tuesday but he did not take part in team drills. Scandrick has missed the last eight practices but he is clearly getting closer to returning. Safety Barry Church was in pads at the start of practice as well but did not work because of rib cartilage issues. Cole Beasley (Achilles), Gavin Escobar (concussion), Ken Bishop and Corey White did not practice for the first time in camp.

The Cowboys had to cut short their work with the Rams on Monday because of how many injuries they have in the OL and DL.

No pads for Sean Lee today as the players start heading toward the practice fields.

Charean Williams ‏@NFLCharean 29m29 minutes ago
Sean Lee is not practicing today.

Cowboys LB Sean Lee not in pads for practice today. Orlando Scandrick (knee) is. First time in while for him

David Helman ‏@HelmanDC 29m29 minutes ago Ventura, CA
But Orlando Scandrick is in full pads. Keeping an eye on his workload today.

We no longer have a relationship with Jared and have no further comment.

Looks like Saffold will be sitting today out. He's considered day-to-day at this point with a right shoulder injury.

Todd Archer ‏@toddarcher 19m19 minutes ago
Dez Bryant in full pads as he makes it to field. Unclear if he will practice or just go thru rehab

David Helman ‏@HelmanDC 18m18 minutes ago Ventura, CA
Dez just reported to the field in full pads. Still really doubt they let him participate. #JustDezThings

Did anyone else get absolutely nothing out of this? Subway declaration? Really? Where did that come from?

I don't know how to take this quote from Romo:

Tony Romo on progressions: "I think the real gift of playing the quarterback position is, for me, getting through five guys in 1.3 seconds."

Watched the ist game and it seemed like Vaughn was getting the ball out in around 2 seconds. Good to see that and this quote from Tony. 1.3 to 2 is Brady/Manning like , and when he was on and giving us trouble Eli M

No idea why it was in the BTB twitter feed, but I felt like passing along the info.

That was funny actually. I mean not haha funny that Jared likes kids, just that you posted it between all the football stuff.

Right get rid of the ball quick, even if you have to throw out of bounds. Bad things happen when you hold the ball too long !!!!
