Turner deal rumor and I would beat it

Our Titans source tells us the team is "indeed very interested" in nabbing restricted free-agent Chargers RB Michael Turner after a "wonderful visit" to Nashville last week. The buzz is that the Titans offered their 19th overall pick and a 3rd-rounder for Turner and San Diego's 30th overall pick. So basically San Diego would just move up 11 spots in the 1st round plus add a 3rd-round pick. Turner's restricted tender actually calls for an extra 1st- (not just swapping up) and 3rd-rounder in compensation, so it's up to Chargers GM A.J. Smith to accept this lesser offer in a sign-and-trade deal. However, our source also says not only is Buffalo "really after him" but Green Bay is now "in the mix" as well... Fantasy Nation is watching this situation closely because not only could it shake up the NFL Draft with exchanged picks, many experts see Turner as capable of top-10 fantasy status in a feature role.

Dallas could and should beat that if it was legitimate offer.

Why? He is not an upgrade over JJ or MBIII.

I wouldn't want Turner even if we could be Tennessee's offer. JJ and Barber are fine. I see our O-Line improved over last year which should help out the running game even more.

I agree. I want to see JJ play without Bill all over his back.

Atleast JJ has experience starting and is good for 1000 yards a year if he stays healthy.

He's an upgrade over Jones for sure.

But, I say trade Jones for a pick to someone, and sign a player like Dillon to back up Barber.

I agree, if Dallas gets better Oline play this year the running game will be very good with JJ and Barber.

michael turner is better than JJ simply because he can run over people as well as being fast. both guys are stiff though.

however, that's not worth a trade down, 3rd, and FA money.

Let's see what JJ can do without Parcells telling him to run like a robot before we dump him. If he goes back to running the way he did at the end of 2005, I'll be more than happy to keep him.

I hope Green Bay lands Turner. That way maybe Lynch is there @ 22. Maybe we take him? Maybe not. It just gives us more options. Someone may want to trade up for the 2nd best RB left.

He may even be an upgrade over JJ?

Hmm.

I don't hate that idea at all.

Given the number of teams showing interest in Turner, and given the fact that they all pick ahead of us...I'm losing hope. :(

Why are 'we' always trying to surrender first round picks for low priority positions? Are first round selections considered a dime-a-dozen now?

I agree, especially with Julius Jones coming off almost 1,200 yards sharing time with a short yardage back like MBIII.....
