NFL Network's Adam Shefter, talking on WFAN, said Norv Turner told Jerry Jones he had a specific defensive coordinator and personnel guy that he'd have to bring to Dallas before taking the Cowboys job.
Shefter said the decision may not come for a few days because Jones may interview another coaching candidate. Turner seems to be the favorite for the job, but Jones may want to keep his defensive coach. Jan. 29 - 3:08 pm et

Wow... how about that? Norv telling Jerry what he wants in order to accept the job. Good for Norv.

Now, about that DC, if it's Mike Singletary, then count me on the Norv Bandwagon.

Do we even have a Defensive Coach? And how dare Turner for wanting to pick his own staff,, that is just something Jerry can't allow!

I could live with Singletary as DC...working alongside Bowles. I could live with that.

I can only live with Norv as HC if we have a good DC to completely turn the D over too. I don't want Norv on the defensive side of the ball. Just worry about Romo, training JG and the running game.

You don't dictate to JJ when you're the lowly Norv Turner. Keep on interviewing Jerry, you can do better than this pock marked clown.

Oh yeah, that's it, Norv... Push Jerry around! Your prior coaching record gives you so much clout!

Thing is it does not matter what Coach Jones brings in some around here will not like the pick and is clear from all the posting on each person interviewed. Some of you guys have your own guy in mind and if Jones does not pick that one your going to complain.

Why?

What has Singletary done to inspire such confidence? Whose D has he coordinated? It looks like his current boss, Mike Nolan, doesn't want to give him that position and he has worked with him since 2003, so, why would we want to do that?

He should be able to pick his own defensive coordinator, I dont think this is unrealistic at all. Stick to your guns Norv.

Norv doesn't really want this job.
On NFL Radio this morning one of the commentators was saying that he had lunch with Norv last week. Basically Norv said he loved the city of San Francisco and he loved being an OC there.

Wouldn't it be funny if Norv was Jerry's 1st choice, but since he couldn't exert total control over him, he passed?

Also, if this report is true, it does inspire some confidence in (or at least respect for) Norv, that's for sure.

I just hope the defensive and personnel guys aren't Campo and Lacewell

In regards to the personnel guy thing.. it prolly wasnt *until* Lacewell's name came up did Norv feel compelled to say that. ;)

I won't complain if it makes sense at some level. Bring on JG, makes sense in the area of bring youth and fresh ideas. Hiring Norv, makes no sense to me.. what does he bring to the table? He has failed in every HC position he has had. Now I understand that JJ wants to groom Romo, but if JG is the person they are selling, that is what he is for. I just wouldn't understand the logic behind Norv being brought in. I also wouldn't understand the promotion of Bowles if Norv is the HC. Now if we bring in a good defensive minded coach, such as Ryan, Rivera or even Phillips, then I can see Bowles being promoted, he would have someone in place to bounce idea's off of.

My only hope is JJ does something that makes sense, which might be a strecth for this owner we have.

Because people like the way he said " I like this kinda party!" back when he was a player.

Seriously, thats why.
