If Jerry is that deep in the strategy no wonder it’s been over 25 yrs . The MM KM dynamic reminds me of Wade Phillips having his OC pre picked in JG. A new coach coming in should pick his own staff . Now THREE yrs in MM and Jerry change OC strategy.

Turpin changed the offense with better field position alone. Do you think Dak would rather start out going 80 yards or 70? I also think the TD returns in preseason fluffed people's brains into thinking it should happen regularly. The field position alone is an enormous advantage.

I'm most impressed with he managed to even play an entire season right after playing an entire season. That's insane.

I recall kick offs not making it to the 25 and Punts for minimal return . Pollard had a kick back against the Raiders Thanksgiving for a TD against the regulars not pre season . I hear the excuse you don’t want to expose Turpin ? Huh ?

This is the NFL go into off season weight training to take the rigors of 17 games and get another “ weapon “ on the field for Dak to play catch with .

Is Turpin any good? Fast sure but I am not sure he is a football player. Great preseason. Zilch in the important games.
I remember more than one game where the team needed momentum and he had a midfield return. Just wish one would have broken free, but he’s the best KR we’ve had in a while.

Can Dallas afford game day 47 a punt / kickoff guy who did make a pro bowl I guess but adds no reps in the receiver room whatsoever . And if Schottenheimer is going to be the brains behind the run game I assume Big Mac is the one who either includes Turpin in the offense or goes KM and has Turpin with a nice salary and the best ticket of any fan as a spectator .

I recall no deep routes for # 9 what so ever this year. Tavon Austin would at least flash every now and then that WR speed.
KT has more Straightline speed with less wiggle then typical WR..ie more of track guy so not sure how much he can offer as a WR..soemof it might be KM but if hes on the team I agree as #4/5 WR he needs to contribute more at that spot. if all he runs are 9s and dbs know it they can play back etc expecting it.

I agree with that but the reality is he was 18th in punt returns and 25th in kickoffs. I always feel he is a shoe string tackle from breaking away.

The thing about Turpins speed is he drags safety / DB down the field opening up an area for 13 or 88 . I just think strictly returning punts and kicks on the 47 game is a luxury shows lack of imagination .

I’m not suggesting a bulk of the snaps but a handful of plays with him on the field where he has to be a accounted for target or not .
Until he actually consistently does something with these routes no defense is going to respect him on the field. He has to be 1 on 1 match ups where he just flat out out runs a defense and makes a play over the top. His size limits him.
Drags, crossing, screen, go, post, Texas (RB), option (RB)...these are all the routes Turpin could be used for because of his speed. He can also carry as a RB every now n then. This draft is filled with smaller WRs who are clear offensive weapons at WR, and they return punts too...if Dallas drafts one Turpin is expendable, they can't have STs only guys taking up roster space.
Yes he needs the Beasley package if he is not an over the top WR which I doubt he is, he needs to be used in the same way beasley was, within 10 yards of the LOS where he can use his speed and quickness to elude the underneath coverage guys and use his open field ability.

Let's remember he played two seasons of football back to back. I am sure we can do more with him in the future once he gets a proper off-season and pre-season in the system.

Problem with Turpin , is he is waaay too damn small and diminutive at just 153 lbs,..he is probably the smallest in the entire NFL
Worse . he plays small... some small guys play much bigger than their size suggests ... Turpin doesn't.

-i've said that the only, likely way we will see Turpin score TD on a runback is he has to be totally Untouched on his pathway to the end zone.

- Tavon Austin 185 lbs ... was much bigger than Turpin ..and also more well established than Turpin from being a well regarded draft prospect to playing in NFL offenses ....

- Lucky Whitehead, 177 lbs ... was also much bigger th n Turpin was strictly a KO returner and gimmick jet sweep guy, they didn't see much of his offensive game to consider more .

- Even 5"6 Jakeem Grant who was a ex-pro bowl returner - is much bigger than Turpin at 177 lbs

I am still baffled by Turpin's selection to the pro-bowl. I assume there was no one else to pick.

He does have potential but he has to stop running into the kickers. Still, he takes up a rosters spot and with Goodwin and Joseph I wonder if having 3 special teams players makes sense. I know Goodwin and Joseph are also DBs but it seems like they would only play in a dire emergency.
Me too, you think everyone voted for him because he was the small dude?

I don't think that was Moore holding Pollard back.
That was the owner/GM dictating who would get the most playing time at RB. "Our offense runs through Zeke" - Jerrah, 2022
Was so tired of hearing that mess, but the media said it too, i'm like have you seen how slow he is???

It’s a luxury 47 man game day .

Get KJ back there at least he can’t hold anyone if he’s the returner .
