I wondered all season if the fact that he was playing in his second professional football season in one calendar year had anything to do with why they weren't running him on offense. However, I suspect that's not the case. If they were trying to preserve him, they would have unleashed him (other than that weird and failed last play) against San Fran, when a loss meant their season was over. So, I'm left with the idea that they either didn't think he could do the job of a gadget guy, or they weren't creative enough to use him.

Can Dallas afford game day 47 a punt / kickoff guy who did make a pro bowl I guess but adds no reps in the receiver room whatsoever . And if Schottenheimer is going to be the brains behind the run game I assume Big Mac is the one who either includes Turpin in the offense or goes KM and has Turpin with a nice salary and the best ticket of any fan as a spectator .

I recall no deep routes for # 9 what so ever this year. Tavon Austin would at least flash every now and then that WR speed.
If he's not intergraded into the offense then he's got to go.

If Turpin was an Eagle, 49er, or Ram, he would be a star. Kellen Moore was too dumb to utilize what Turpin could do. Look how much Moore held Pollard back.

It’s not unusual to have a return guy who is just a return guy if he’s a really good return guy
I’d like to see him involved in the offense more but I think a part of why they didn’t was the fact he had just finished a season of football playing full time and they wanted to have him fresh for returns. A 17 game season wears on guys but imagine playing an extra 10 weeks on top of that

He did have one catch for 9 yards during the regular season and a reception against SF in the playoffs. With a new OC maybe they’ll expand his role some as a receiver next season. He’s more of a gadget guy on offense.

This gets swept under the rug but it’s an important thing to keep in mind. This dude already played a full season with another league got a couple months off and was back in training camp for an nfl team.

I think it’s very possible we see a better Turpin year 2 between him being more experienced and better rested alone.
I just hope he can be counted on not to fumble punts...

Turpin has all the tools and none of the brains. Him running right into the kicker when he had a wide open TD is not talked about enough.

Him running into the defenders on kick return is the bigger issue he doesn't see the field well or something

In JG/KM's offense, it's more important for the WR to block than catch a ball in space and outrun the defenders for a big play. Go figure.

Turpin's biggest hurdle is, is he a natural receiver. Same problem as Tavon Austin, does he have the skills in the receiving department to be a Santana Moss, or is he just a faster version of Cole Beasley. There is nothing wrong with the later because of his speed and quickness he can do things in the open field, until proven otherwise I just do not see him being a deep patter type of receiver.

The thing about Turpins speed is he drags safety / DB down the field opening up an area for 13 or 88 . I just think strictly returning punts and kicks on the 47 game is a luxury shows lack of imagination .

I’m not suggesting a bulk of the snaps but a handful of plays with him on the field where he has to be a accounted for target or not .

Drags, crossing, screen, go, post, Texas (RB), option (RB)...these are all the routes Turpin could be used for because of his speed. He can also carry as a RB every now n then. This draft is filled with smaller WRs who are clear offensive weapons at WR, and they return punts too...if Dallas drafts one Turpin is expendable, they can't have STs only guys taking up roster space.

I don't think that was Moore holding Pollard back.
That was the owner/GM dictating who would get the most playing time at RB. "Our offense runs through Zeke" - Jerrah, 2022
