Twice as many game ending INTs since 2006

Just curious for all the Romo lovers. Have we always had the worst defense in NFL history? It seems to always be everyone's fault but Romo's. I was just going back through the years looking at defensive rankings.

2012: 19th ranked defensed. Missed playoffs. Epic choke job in Week 17.
2011: 14th ranked defense. Missed playoffs. Epic choke job in Week 17.
2010: 23rd ranked defense. Missed playoffs. Romo went 1-7. Kitna went 5-3.
2009: 9th ranked defense. Finished 11-5. Beat Eagles in playoffs. Lost 32-3 in second round to Vikings. But I'm sure it wasn't Romo's fault.
2008: 8th ranked defense. Finished 7-9. Missed playoffs. But I'm sure it wasn't Romo's fault.
2007: 9th ranked defense. Finished 13-3. Lost to Giants in playoffs. Sure it wasn't Romo's fault.
2006: 13th ranked defense. Finished 9-7. Lost to Seahawks in playoffs. Definitely not Romo's fault.

So 4 years with a near top 10 defense (9, 8, 9, 13) and he went 1-4 in the playoffs. But it wasn't his fault. And in 2008 he had his highest rated defense ever and went 7-9.

Umm kitna lost to the Giants, jaguars, packers, saints and eagles. He beat the giants, lions colts and skins.

That's umm. 4-5. Jason Garrett went 5-3 as head coach.

If your going to use Jon kitna as a reason for bashing romo then at least get it right.

And we didn't finish 7-9 in 08

We only won 1 game with Romo. He went down during the Giants game. I thought we were 1-6 going into the Giants game. I guess we were 1-4. My mistake. We lost that Giants game. Even if we don't count that loss toward Romo or Kitna (since they both played), that means Kitna still won 5 games (since we finished 6-10).

Okay I guess McGee played Week 17. So Kitna went 4-5. You're right. And Romo went 1-4. And McGee went 1-0.

Wow you either have a bad memory or are not that a big fan...or just not very bright.

Kitna came into the giants game with a lead and did nothing. If you want to put that loss on romo fine, but then you have to put in the loss against the cardinals on kitna because he got injured while we were losing after throwing two interceptions.

McGee played the second half against Arizona and led us on a game winning drive complete with a Td to Austin only to have the defense give it away in incredible fashion to the cardinals backup.

McGee then beat the eagles backups at Philly to finish the season.
If you are going to call out our best players you should probably study up first.

I just corrected myself in another post. Okay so Kitna went 4-5 in games he played the entire game. Romo went 1-4. Sorry for forgetting such a forgettable season.

Then don't use it to call out another player.

And we didn't go 7-9 in 08 either

My bad. My mistake again. 9-7. Still missed the playoffs. With a serviceable defense (8th in total yards) and Romo playing 16 games.

Oh for gods sake.

He didn't play against the rams, the bucs or the giants.

Just curious, how many times in his career has this stupid porous defense put Romo in this situations? Having to come back and try and win a game? It sure seems that he is put in this position more than any other QB I swear. I don't even know how you would research that but already this year he has been put in these do or die situations a lot.
I think Brady has 3 games this year where he closed it out with an INT. They have won a lot of close ones.

Oh I know. 100% correct on the craptastic defense but Romo is supposed to be the FRANCHISE QB. Over the course of a season you several do-or-die situations come up....it doesn't matter how you got there, all that matters is what happens next.

Too often our franchise QB comes up "Die".

The defense does him no favors. However, that doesn't excuse the chokejob.

So in this season already he has been asked to pull games against NYx2, MN, Det, GB. And there is a reason he had 11 comeback wins over the past two season.

100% correct. Both are failing badly and are not improving. It is the definition of insanity, doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results. You just can't squeeze blood out of turnips! They both need to go!! Romo can't run anymore, he can't throw down field without under/overthrowing his target, he can't throw into windows, he panics when there is nobody around, he still makes the same rookie mistakes he always has. I mean at some point, you just can't teach an old dog new tricks and it is time to move on. I have a feeling nothing is going to change until Jerry gets a real GM or dies.. whichever comes first.

I actually like Romo as person because there are far too many character flawed players in NFL and Romo has always taken high road. His charity off the field is equally impressive. However, when your starting QB is throwing off his back foot without a defender in his face its because he no longer wants to get hit. It gives the impression that his arm strength has decreased but I think its more about his foot work and unwillingness to step into his throws like he did when he was younger. If Dallas had any forward thinkers at the ranch they would be planning for his replacement right after season. Let him play out his 2 years (unless you get Carson Palmer trade offer) and if a QB you like drops in this draft....you make that move without hesitation.

Haha okay strike 3. And that's why we missed the playoffs I suppose.

lol, I've posted bad data a few times myself. The reason why we didn't make the playoffs is because Brad Johnson was inadequate as a backup and we lost an inexcusable game to the 2-14 Rams. That's also the reason why we got Kitna the next year.

I could tell you why we did but it doesn't matter. Hyperbole is your thing.

Pat yourself on the back, espn and pro football talk are making tons of money because of fans like yourself.

OH I SEE!!!! Didn't pay attention to the parameters of the stat.. Do we know the wind speed, ground temp, and what shows were following the games after the INTs were thrown.

I think the point is that when you are losing you're trying to make a play and may even risk an interception because you throw one you lose, but if you don't make a play you also lose. Whereas, if you have the lead or are tied, its a situation where you can't afford a turnover, because you have a very good chance to win within your grasp or at least overtime. But I'm glad since you couldn't see the distinction on your own you decided to just make a sarcastic remark indicating that the difference is trivial. It's not.

yawn. In your desperate need to prove your point (which clearly is one of your lifetime goals) you make us laugh

You know you've lost an argument when you fail to address and substantive points made in the opposing argument (which are well articulated and laid out by JoeyBoy) and merely dismiss them as laughable.

I'd like to see "costly INT" defined by a scholarly source please. Especially when you use the term "typically", you're not really providing a solid foundation for your argument.

You're on a message board. I didn't know you needed an amiscus brief on the subject with footnotes in order to understand the point, but the difference is pretty clear. This is the type of delusional ignorance that keeps people blind to realities about our team.
