Yes. In fact, I'm in favor of going that way. I think Ware and Williams cost less at this point. Although I think both would be role players while Hardy would not come off the field as much.

I think we need a vet DE as we transition to Gregory and Lawrence, though, so I think the lower-priced, part-time options are a good choice.

Of course, I'm nostalgic. I'd also like to see us bring in a low-priced Melton to pair with Crawford and a low-priced Moore as the third corner (if we can't get Claiborne to return on the cheap).

Rather have Williams then Ware at this point....both have had a good career.....My problem with Ware is his injuries, then he plays in a 3-4 on a really good defensive team. He is benefiting and extending his career by having Von Miller on the DL with him, then really good DBs behind him. Great situation for DWARE.....but that situation will totally change in Dallas.....Don't think he will be near as productive in a 4-3 defense that needs lot of help.

Fair answer.

Definitely, but I don't think the two bring the same thing to the table at this point. I think Hardy is a full time player while Ware would have to be part time, whether you wanted him to be or not.

I agree, and I would LOVE to see them both there on our DL...but, I just can't see both being signed

I still like Ware a lot, but not.

Well, on a one-day contract so he can retire as a Dallas Cowboy :)

Twitter mailbag: Could DeMarcus Ware return to Dallas? - Todd Archer, ESPN

@toddarcher With the @Broncos having several free agents is it possible @DeMarcusWare returns on a 2-3 year deal with Dallas? #cowboysmail

11:23 AM - 20 Jan 2016

@toddarcher: I like this question and it's something I wondered about when I wrote about DeMarcus Ware earlier in the week. Let's go with the thought that he won't be back in Denver for the sake of this question. Should the Cowboys consider him? Absolutely. Ware will be able to roll out of bed and get seven sacks. The Cowboys don't really have that kind of guy. The length of the deal doesn't concern me so much. The money involved would. Ware had 7.5 sacks in 11 games in 2015. And I can hear those screaming about Ware not fitting in a 4-3 scheme. Please. Let him rush out of a two-point stance if he wants. It doesn't really matter. He would be signed to be a pass-rush specialist and his snaps would be monitored.

Bad idea
One of the major issues with this FO is their penchant for constantly looking backward instead of forward. This has had many unfortunate manifestations to the detriment of the franchise including the hiring of one, Jason Garrett.
This is largely because, despite their public bravado, this collection of spineless yes-men themselves have little confidence in their ability to make sound football decisions.

I'm not a fan of this idea. I think his injuries and drop in production in the 4-3 are apparent, despite Archer's arrogant claim to the contrary. In fact, Archer's work has been slipping lately. Where he works may be getting to him.

And I think he'd be better off staying in Denver with a payout than coming to Dallas. He'd likely play more, in a better scheme fit, for better money. I mean honestly, how much would anyone be comfortable paying what amounts to a part time specialist?

I don't know but I miss Ware. The emotional side of this makes me want to bring him in.

These trends just make me sick. Ware getting the boot and now finally playing in the SB. Watching Wade's defensive scheme completely shut down Brady. Zimmer having one heck of a good season with a very young team minus AP. Newman, Pacman, Harris can be added to the list. This article can be written about a LOT of former Cowboys whom are excelling elsewhere. SMH

If Ware would "work out" with 38 year old James Harrison in the offseason, he might just come back a better player than he ever was. ;)

I don't know that DWare would come back or not. One thing is sure, Denver's cap situation is not going to get better next year unless Payton retires and that could happen but honestly, I have no idea if DWare would be kept, release or even consider coming back.

I do know this, there is a very long history of bringing in older situational Pass Rushers in the NFL. Fred Dean was brought in by SF in the 80s run. Green Bay did it with Reggie White. Pittsburgh and Carolina did it with Kevin Greene. Carolina just did it with Jared Allen this year. Heck, we did it with Haley and tried it with several others. This is actually pretty common practice and it's been done a lot with a good amount of success.

Not out of the question, just depending on the numbers.

For the right price - I can't imagine a Cowboy fan who wouldn't want Demarcus back until he retires. He would also be coming back to a better situation on the defensive line than when he left and would be an inspiration and mentor to players like Lawrence and Gregory and Irving.

With a reasonable deal - there is no downside in having Demarcus Ware retiring as a Cowboy and I think he would appreciate the opportunity to do so.

Right after he gets a Super Bowl with Denver. **** that. Biggest punch in the nuts in the world.
