Of course what they did was outrageous, let the investigation run its course. Did the players have a record of stuff like this? Did the ref do anything? The hits are still inexcusable. No sports for at least a year. Not convinced they should enjoy the full anonymity of a minor...they knew what they were doing and need a day in court

And I hope they do press charges both criminal and civil.
The teams football program should be shut down for the year.

Because it sends a message to everyone. Do this and the program is gone for a year.
The schools use football as a money maker.

Nah, I disagree and think that's overkill. If there was proof of a systemic problem within the program, then yeah I'd agree they should be punished. That's not the case here.

Not that I want to get into a massive debate on this with you.
But - Just one time try to referee, you already may have, and you get the idea.
Zero tolerance on any misconduct.

I've been a basketball and volleyball official for 15 years. I've been confronted by parents, coaches, and disrespected by some kids. Name it and I've probably seen it. The kids should def be punished. No real debate there.

Punishing the school for the sole acts by two knuckleheads is simply overkill.

I still say send a message.
Agree to disagree on this one.

Question - Why is Brain Paint showing up in posters Pictures?

Was it the same referee who ejected both the other earlier players.

If the coach - any coach - had heard the referee say anything they should have told the Referee crew chief.
Then write it up and send it into the the association.

Can't say I agree. There are certain things so egregious that you don't deserve to get off with a warning.

Yeah, like cheating at the professional level of a league that makes billions annually and trillions in gambling revenues....oops, did I just say that?

That ref has been around for 15-20 years. He was getting ready to be nominated as the head ref in the entire region...someone with a great reputation.

For sure, if he ever had complaints about making racial slurs in the past it would have been reported....as it should be.
That's not something that could be hidden in any way, as there are always people out there holding grudges against refs--and especially in football crazy Texas.

SA Jay was ticked because they were heading for a big loss, and they had key players ejected.
The default nowadays is to claim some kind of slur was made.
And btw, we both know and you would agree, even if he did use a slur it would never justify what was done. However, it might justify him being suspended or put on probation.

It was the same ref

One of the guys that he threw out earlier was the QB. He was throwing punches and yelling at the ref. People at the game said when he got back to the sideline, the coach patted him on the helmet. By rules they have to leave the field and none of those ejected players did that. He later tweeted in support of what the two players did to the ref...

Bad night for that QB, Moses Reynolds, as Baylor, A&M, Cal, TCU and Oklahoma State have been courting him. He might not get an offer now. His brother is Josh Reynolds, WR for A&M...

Art Briles has no problem taking players like that. Briles probably isn't even aware that there was an incident.

Beyond the video, ref ejected two players before he was hit, asst coach allegedly said "something must be done" If true, it makes the program look bad.

Thanks for posting an update. So the program isn't going to be suspended, which I think is right. The kids will get their punishment as they should. I think the racial slur allegation is bogus, but it doesn't mean the ref wasn't overheard saying something. Still doesn't justify anything as it pertains to the kids.

Not sure what I think about the asst coach thing. I don't think what he said was a suggestion of anything to the kids, but with immature kids, anything can be taken as a directive.
