Two John Jay football players suspended for hit on referee - now ref pressing charges

Yeah, their season is over. The next questions will be whether or not the HS careers are over or if there are criminal charges.
If a coach was involved it may change the harshness of the penalties though, not sure.
Scary stuff either way.

I was listening to the news this morning and a guy here suggested it would be a misdemeanor which carries with it probation, community service, et al. This is something that doesn't have to follow them the rest of their lives, because their juveniles.

I'd let them return to play HS football, but with clear expectations and consequences if there's a repeat of this nonsense.

Can't say I agree. There are certain things so egregious that you don't deserve to get off with a warning. Those guys should be permanently ineligible from high school sports.

I could actually forgive a shove in the heat of the moment, but this was premeditated by the 2 of them. They stood back, waited for the snap, then targeted the guy from behind, leading with their equipment.

I would sue for future earnings.

If he becomes a professional athlete = pay me.
If he receives a settlement for being offended in the future = pay me
If he hits the lotto = pay me

Only one is a juvenile. One's a Sophomore one is a Senior. 17 yo are charged as adults in Texas...

I would throw SOMETHING in there about future issues. He may end up with a slipped disc or worse down the line as sometimes injuries don't show their effects for years...

His whole body from head to toe was whiplash traumatized!

Nope. Intent to injure with malice and forethought. My understanding is the second guy (spearer) was mistakenly not thrown out of the game, and proceeded to hit the quarterback after he kneeled
on a subsequent play. No way I let him play again.

That's fudged up

Holy moly.

The Marble Falls team handled this all pretty well from my understanding. This very well could have escalated into a big brawl after they hit the QB while kneeling down on the final play of the game.

Hell no! Public execution is the only answer!

It would serve as deterrent to all those who think this sort of behavior is perfectly normal

great idea

Let me go get my guillotine. Its been over 100 something years, but man the blade is still sharp. Let's do this I got my black hat and everything.

Go where the money is. Sue the school/district.

Your post made me curious. I did a quick google search. The first two things I found were:

The last execution by guillotine in France was in 1977.

The last public execution by guillotine in France was in 1939.

really? I knew the french where the last users of it, but I thought they stopped using it in the early 1900's.... You learn something new everyday

I wouldn't even let them return to HS. If I was in charge both kids would be expelled, let them try to find another school to learn in and see if they let them play football. Those kids assaulted a person there in an official capacity, that's the same as hitting a teacher - and it's worthy of an expulsion. IMO the only way they'd even be allowed back into the school would be if a coach specifically told them to do it. Then they'd be suspended and he'd be arrested.

It's gotta be quicker than electrocuting someone to death, and it probably smells less like bacon. But the cleanup is rough.

Why? Did the school district blind side him? I guess if he just wants to take somebody elses money who really didn't do anything he could go that route, there is probably enough public outrage for him to get a decision.
He should go after the two idiots who thought this was a good idea, both criminal and civil. The thought that they should just get a stern talking to and told not to do it again is crazy, they are old enough to know better young or not and should be punished the same as if this happened on the street.

I wanted to like your post but I couldn't. If it was patriots and Brady you would be in here like Matlock.

That's the root problem this year...venting and spitting in "discussion forums"

I've agreed with people while being at odds on much bigger issues than sports
