I didn't say the offense is why they lost the game pal. Simmer down. I only meant to relay that those six possessions resulted in 3 points and an INT. It was a faulty game plan almost from the start...one that Schottenheimer has been known for...with max protect vertical routes from shotgun formations on third and short yardage. Bland was butt ugly horrible. Winters wasn't great. Eze lost contain. Gary lost contain. Turpin fumbled a damn ball and Ferguson tipped one for an INT.No it's not don't come in here acting a fool and thinking that you get away with just saying whatever you want The offense was not why they lost that game they have lost every game Because a bad defense the special teams and there is no other big words you could pick out It doesn't matter if they have to help the defense they shouldn't have to help the defense where's all the help last year and so far this year for the offense have to do historically set records with having very little possessions you know they have the least amount of possessions in the NFL and the only one is even close already had their bye week in Kansas City by far still scoring as many points as they do they should have won that game even in Tampa Bay had they had a better defense Yeah they lost in the 3rd quarter because of the defense.
No defenses are supposed to be there not just to stop another teams offense every now and again they're supposed to stop them every single drive they're supposed to keep the points down to zero if possible do you want to talk about semantics you're trying to cherry pick one game where the offense was subpar and they still scored 16 points and had a chance at the end But the defense once again finding a way to give up 24 to 34 points and that's why you're losing games and no help from special teams at all there are no short fields there are no turnovers you know the only defense in the NFL right now without a single interception and they're the lowest turnover rate they're giving up the most time of possession they are taking away possessions from the offense it's not the other way around..
Does it matter that the defense finally did their job on two or three drives oh wow a bunch of possessors where they finally made stops no what they didn't do is make enough stops and that's why we lost the game I see teams all the time can win games playing subpar offense and they get bailed out by defense and special teams 16 points can win you games in this league you know the Jaguars have had 10 straight games with their defenses given up 20 points or less A lot of them were 17 points or less would you like to go over the fact that the Ravens and the Bears those historically good defenses gave up less than 13 points a game wow we had one of those The Cowboys want to win against Tampa if they only gave up 13 points or 10 points or doing their job which would be giving up zero points you act like the offense just got shut out he did not get shut out it made a bunch of mistakes shot itself in the foot on a short week but the defense still lost that game..
Who should have won that game Scoring first up 7 to nothing the game should have been won 7 to zero there you go how about those semantics how about perspectives that can skew a narrative the defense has been awful and you're trying to make excuses and the only off game the Cowboys have had on offense so far and you're gonna cherry pick it to death no the defense still lost the game..
So teams never contributing anything..
This team has been one dimensional for Brian Schottenheimer's entire head coaching stint, Literally has the defensive special teams are doing nothing and somehow you're gonna cherry pick one bad game yeah it was a bad game all the way around the whole team the coaching staff and that's why changes are being made but you to stay here and say it's malfeasance like you're a lawyer no it's malfeasance since we hadn't had a good defense in so long I forgot what good defense is look like I get jealous I sit here getting a little chubby watching other teams give up less than 17 points and go man that must be nice that's what the Philadelphia Eagles get a lot they win games no matter how bad they play on offense because their defense special teams and coaching are better But don't blame our offense for only putting up 16 points that should have been enough...
I love ties in the NFL! It just makes so much sense lol.Kevin here are the scores needed to win in the Cowboys 12 losses under Brian Schottenheimer:
2025
2026
- Eagles 24-Cowboys 20 (needed 25)
- Bears 31- Cowboys 14 (needed 32)
- Panthers 30- Cowboys 27 (needed 31)
- Broncos 44- Cowboys 22 (needed 45)
- Cards 27- Cowboys 17 (needed 28)
- Lions 44- Cowboys 30 (needed 45)
- Vikings 34-Cowboys 26 (needed 35)
- Chargers 34- Cowboys 17 (needed 35)
- Giants 34 - Cowboys 17 (needed 35)
In the 12 losses we’ve suffered under Schotty, two of them we needed to score 45 to win, six of them we needed to score over 30 and 4 of them over 25 points to win. ALL of those losses required above league average scoring to win those games.
- Giants 28- Cowboys 20 (needed 29)
- Ravens 34- Cowboys 31 (needed 35)
- Bucs 24- Cowboys 16 (needed 25)
That doesn’t count the tie we had last year that required us to score 40 to avoid a loss.
And ok…the 9 wins we’ve had under Schotty didn’t always require 30 or more. That’s a very small consolation.
I’m just trying to paint an accurate picture of what our Dallas Cowboys are right now.
Careful, because “Charlie Chan” Gaily took us to the playoffs, achieved a 10-6 reg season record, and was fired for it, lol.He may be the worst of the worst, right up there with Chan Gayley, Dave Campo, and the absolute worst, The Red Clapper, Jason Garret. Schotty talks a great game and delivers absolute crap. He is clueless. He demands nothing from his players, he manages games extremely poorly, and he chokes just as much as Dak. These two are not winners. They are the stiffs Jerry uses to give the illusion that he cares. Different players on defense, but the same issues as last year. No toughness, no communication, poor tackling, and penalties that let the opposing offenses keep drives alive. Nothing has changed. To me, the proof that Schotty isn't a good coach is the record and how they got there. Building a culture of failure and allowing the coach and the players to say, "We will clean it up". But they just do not, and there is no chance that it is going to happen in the future This team is made up of salary cashers who don't care whether they win or lose.
It’s easier to go directly to the architect of this 3 decade mess and just say it’s all the GM’s fault (that’s how the other 31 teams operate).Did you just say that apparently? You don't comprehend or read or are you trying to be funny and sarcastic 'cause it says that? His side of the ball is doing more than a chair, and yes, he's the head coach, but he doesn't run the entire team. These people are being hired by the GM and the rest of the front office. I don't want to hear the nonsense on this must be Brian Schottenheimer's problem. No, it's not. It's Mike Nolan. Mike Zimmer. Matt Eberfluth. And now, Christian Parker. That's right, they did a full 360 on. Hiring experience, retreads, and now we're trying something different in five games. In you acting like this is Brian Schottenheimer's fault. But this is like the 3rd or 4 time that the. Offense has been. Ridiculously good. And the defense has been historically bad since 2016. So yeah, let's just pick on that. Prescott had an off day, a Schottenheimer. It must be him. No, it is the fault of. The people who are hiring these people and at this point this year, you're not even giving this a chance...
Y'all keep trying that what I see from Schotty, Is he's not the problem and he hasn't had a fair chance help. About them. Get some. Defense and special teams going, he can't run it all by himself. He's not doing all the hiring. He's also not coaching. The whole entire team. That is why you have a defensive coordinator and a special teams coach and then a whole bunch of assistants. It's insane whether you're trying to be funny, but you're not. You're trying to be sarcastic. You're not doing a good job of it. Because right now this is laid at the feet of Jerry Jones. And the rest of this team, not Schottenheimer...
Leave you with this one example. Did you think this guy coached well in Cleveland? Didn't he get fired or did he quit? II believe you got fired and immediately got hired by the Falcons. Why is that? I bet they looked at it and said, well, that can't be all his fault. Must be the owner, the GM. There must have been something else because had a guy, a guy like this below, just immediately get another job. But but apparently you think Brian Schottenheimer is not doing a good job. Maybe you ought to take a closer look.
Kevin Stefanski was the head coach of the Cleveland Browns last year (2025) and is now the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. [1, 2]
So true Art. And 31 other teams change GMs after even 5 years of playoff futility. It’s easier to go directly to the architect of this 3 decade mess and just say it’s all the GM’s fault (that’s how the other 31 teams operate).
Mind numbing is a great way to say it and some fans wonder why longtime fans are numb as we experience yet another lost season. So true Art. And 31 other teams change GMs after even 5 years of playoff futility.
But our owner chooses to keep the guy most responsible for the failure at GM, and fire the coaches who had limited ability to lead the team. It’s mind numbingly stupid.
Look, I disagree with what you’re saying it wasn’t a bad game plan. It’s not his fault that passes clanked off the hands of two receivers and turned into two interceptions and the fumble by Turpin and the fact that the offensive line couldn’t pick up the blitz and hold long enough for Prescott to try to get the ball out and again he’s allowed to have an off day before I hear. I don’t know if it was in the Texans game or early in this game. He got his hands stepped on, but he threw the ball and catchable areas.I didn't say the offense is why they lost the game pal. Simmer down. I only meant to relay that those six possessions resulted in 3 points and an INT. The offense coughed up two turnovers on tipped passes. Special teams coughed up a third. Bland couldn't come down with a frigging pick six. Plenty of blame to go 'round and the offense contributed heavily to the loss...starting with Schottenheimer's horrible game plan. There were no heroes last Thursday. NONE.
A fun stat to look at would be when did dallas score their first points in each game. That paints a different picture as to why they always need 30+Kevin here are the scores needed to win in the Cowboys 12 losses under Brian Schottenheimer:

Say the offense didn’t contribute, but Brian Schottenheimer‘s game plan has nothing to do with this. It wasn’t a bad game plan. It was bad execution so you can simmer down. Yes it was a total team loss, but you know what the offense should get a break every once in a while and score 16 points and not play well and win a game. They did it with Cooper Rush in 2022 so that’s the difference between these defenses and the old ones. They stepped up and beat the damn Rams a fully healthy Rams team playing horribly on offense. Yes Cooper rest was horrible. He never was gonna be a good starter so I hope you weren’t in that. He’s better than deck at running the offense from within lol Cooper had 100 yards passing in two fumbles the offense couldn’t get much at all going and yet they won the game. They should’ve won this game if we had any defense and special teams 16 points in the NFL is enough to win.I didn't say the offense is why they lost the game pal. Simmer down. P.I is a way they can control points, hence they do not want the college rule. Why change and make it fair when u can call p.i and get the ball to 1st n goal and give a crappy offense an easy advantage.I love ties in the NFL! It just makes so much sense lol.
The NFL should copy the NHL and have a shootout at the end of OT. Each kicker would compete attempting field goals from 50 yards for three rounds.
The NFL should also copy the NHL for having much better officiating than the NFL. Pass interference can be a 70 yd penalty but it’s not reviewable!! Ridiculous!!
That's some Zen like knowledge right here.A common fallacy is to argue "what if" vs "what is".
Get Jerry on the horn. What did we get ourselves into hiring shotty!!?
Exactly, and the fix is simple. If a player mauls the receiver, then it’s a spot foul. If it’s a lot less contact than that, it’s a 15 yd penalty problem solved.P.I is a way they can control points, hence they do not want the college rule. Why change and make it fair when u can call p.i and get the ball to 1st n goal and give a crappy offense an easy advantage.
Number of possessions has a ton to do w/ the D.That’s a good point.
I also think number of possessions isn’t as telling a stat as it seems. By definition number of your team’s possessions is always going to be tied to the number of the opponent’s—you can wish your team had two more possessions to try to score, but if they did that would mean the opponent had two more of their own and your defense would be even more pressed. Points per drive, rather than number of drives, is key.
(Admittedly good clock management at the ends of the half can buy you an extra possession vs. the opponent, and Schotty has indeed screwed that up before.)
I've seen squirrels that had more sense. So true Art. And 31 other teams change GMs after even 5 years of playoff futility.

I painstakingly tried to read his blabbering response to your post. But the pounding headache stopped me from finishing.Ok, Mrs. Schottenheimer.
Jerry Dumbo GM Jones 1So far in the second year of Brian Schottenheimer’s tenure, his overall record in 22 games as HC is 9-12-1. Obviously a lot more football to go this season and the NFC Least is shaping up to be a race for mediocrity, and we are just a game back. Plenty of time to get up off the mat.
There are two stats I ran across however that I think sums up what this team is most challenged with:
STAT ONE (Involving scoring)
STAT TWO (offensive possessions)
- When Cowboys score less than 30 points, Schotty’s record is 1-10.
- When the Cowboys score 30 or more, Schotty’s record is 8-2-1.
- The NFL avg for pts per game for teams is 23.
Through 22 games under Schotty, we have less than a 10% chance of winning if we score less than 30. Ouch.
- Through 5 games, the Cowboys have the least number of offensive possessions with 45, or 9 possessions per game. League avg is 10.4 per game. Sea leads the league with 62 possessions or 12.4 possessions per game.
- When you have to score 30 or more to win, and you don’t get that many possessions in a game, your offense is in a place where it has to score almost every time it has the ball.
The hope for improvement: GETTING TURNOVERS AND SHORT POSSESSIONS FROM OPPONENTS. Turnovers and extra stops from your defense give your offense extra possessions along with some short fields.
Without more TOs from our defense giving our offense more possessions, our offense will have to continue to score 30 or more each week to win.
Hopefully Mike Pettine can help Chris Parker dial up some stops and TOs.
