I hear what you are saying but I dont see that much of a decline in Witten this year.. In fact I have been laughing sometimes because he is even jukin out guys, or at least trying lol But he is 34 so I see a need soon.. Some stats from the past few years.. and he has 3 more games to go..

Year Team G Rec Yds Avg Yds/G Lng TD 20+ 40+ 1st FUM
2016 Dallas Cowboys 13 56 579 10.3 44.5 35 2 6 0 29 0

2015 Dallas Cowboys 16 77 713 9.3 44.6 35 3 4 0 36 1

2014 Dallas Cowboys 16 64 703 11.0 43.9 34 5 7 0 48 0

2013 Dallas Cowboys 16 73 851 11.7 53.2 34 8 13 0 44 0
You make a strong point, but he does have the advantage of a great running game, & a rookie QB who needs a safety blanket. I do love seeing him still out there showing the pups how it's done. After halftime last night, the Bucs coach said, "Witten's killing us. We have to figure out a way to cover him"..lol! Still, except for an injured Swaim, who isn't the receiver that Witten is, we have little on the shelf. Time to go shopping.

Like DE, we are fortunate this class is good and deep.

David Njoku declared as well and he has some very interesting athletic tools.

I know Howard and Hodges top everyone's list, but a late rounder worth looking hard at is Michael Roberts of Toledo.

Huge player that has only begun to show his talents.

Michael Roberts is in my mock. 15 TD's, not just an overgrown WR. He actually blocks. Imagine that.

A TE that blocks? Tell me more.

6-6/270, good athlete. Not much in terms of highlights on YouTube on him. Have to watch full games. I've seen him block from inline, H and FB positions. They move him around a lot. 45 catches, 11.8 YPC and 15 TD's this year.

Technically 3, but Engram will most likely go early in the second. The first I'm looking at is Bucky Hodges

He's 6'7 with INSANE catching ability. He's a TE you can line up on the inside (Needs to work on his blocking though) and outside. If he's there late in the second, I'd take him.

The second would be Jake Butt

He's the TE some scouts are saying looks similar to Witten. I think he's closer to a Hunter Henry, needs to put on a couple more pounds before coming into the league. He doesn't have freakish abilities like Hodges, but he's more polished as a route runner. Sadly, he needs to work on his blocking as well.

This is a really solid draft, in my opinion, for TE's. We can cry all we like about how we have wasted picks in the past on TE's, but we need someone to replace Witten or at least split reps with him here shortly. This is a good draft to find the future.

I have liked Butts for 3 years now.
