Yep. We should only give them credit when they do something good. Even if it was a correction of something they were obviously dead wrong about.

Let's pretend they have never made mistakes.

Remember the Super Bowl we just won in 1995? Sweet!
Stephen/mcclay weren't running things in 1995. They didn't create the wr snafu of 2018. It was thrust upon them. They did react swiftly. We now have the best wr trio in nfl.

They didn't?

Stephen is the one who made the claim.

McClay was the VP of Player Personnel. He was the Assistant Director of Player Personnel for 4 years before that.

Are you actually claiming that McClay wasn't responsible in 2018 for coming into the season with no real WR's but he is somehow responsible for the Cooper trade two months later?

That is next level selective memory.

We went after sammy watkins. He spurned us. Dez put us in a most unenviable position. We brought in brice butler and tavon austin. And finally the deal for cooper. Since then, gallup and lambo added to the mix. The speed with which Stephen and mcclay corrected the wr deficiency speaks to their effectiveness, not the opposite.
It’s taken two 1st round picks to correct the bundles beginning with mismanaging Dez franchise tag , holdout then contract. Which took Daddy coming in to make a deal for Cooper to save the season and perhaps Daks career.

The WR by Committee was as bad a bundle as the RB by committee which also took a 1st round pick to recover.

In the meantime how many years have possibly been wasted recovering.

And lookie lookie it’s 2020 and we are going safety by committee

Dak had a passer rating of 96.9 with 22 TD’s and only 8 int’s. Cooper came in after game 7 which helped but Dak balled that year with nothing for most of the year.
Yes but did you think we were going anywhere at 3-4?

I was at that game Week 1 against the Panthers. It was one of the most anemic offensive outings I've seen since the Campo years.

We sacrificed half a season to have the best trio of wr's in the NFL a year later and all you can do is find fault. Would you have kept dez? Who would you have signed after watkins chose kc? Would you have signed coop? Would you have drafted gallup and waited until the third round to have done so. Don't need to ask about lambo. Can't imagine anyone who would have passed on him.

and your Front Office told you it would be fine.

"You don't really need a #1 WR"

One of the differences, I believe, between Garrett and McCarthy.

I don't know if Garrett signed off on those being our starting receivers, but I do believe that Garrett lacked the pull that McCarthy, as a Super Bowl-winning coach, has with the Joneses, the kind of pull that got them to bring in Gerald McCoy, Dontari Poe, Aldon Smith and Everson Griffen to try to fix the DL.

Man what if Watkins had said yes? We tend to get lucky in some strange ways.

At one point in that game, some moment in the second quarter, we went 5 wide, with what must be the least talented 5 wide set up ever:

Swaim, Hurns, Beasley, Terrance Williams, and Blake Jarwin.

I think there was another moment in the game where we did the same thing, only this time Rod Smith went wide and Jarwin was out.

Awful. Inept coaching on so many levels.
